Quick Quotes

Q. Trey, I know it seems like you're going to fall a spot short. Talk about the day out there and how much you were keeping an eye on the leaderboards and everything as you were playing.

TREY MULLINAX: Yeah, I just found out I was probably going to be a little bit short. Stings, but I left it all out there. I did everything I could do today. I played really, really good golf all day. I mean, can't really think of any shots I'd really take back. I committed to all of them, hit a lot of really good golf shots. I hit good putts, they just didn't go in. That's okay. There's always got to be a 31 guy, and I guess I'm him.

Q. From where you were at the John Deere, I think about 140th in the FedExCup, you pick up a win and then you move within one spot of getting to the TOUR Championship, all in all that sounds like a pretty successful run there even though you may not make it to East Lake?

TREY MULLINAX: Yeah, absolutely. I've had a great year, great end of the year, playing really, really well. Like I said, it stings; you want to go. But if I'm one short, I'm one short. It's not going to change my life. I'm going to go home, my kids are going to hug me, my wife is going to give me a kiss and it's going to be all right.

Q. How did you feel this morning? What was your approach today?

TREY MULLINAX: Man, I just really wanted to stay focused on what I was doing. I didn't try to look at any leaderboards, I didn't try to let -- I can't control anything they're doing anyway. I was just trying to play my game, hit my shots and do the best I could at that, and I did that really well today. I stayed in the moment, didn't get too pressed, I just -- I hit some good putts that didn't go in today, and that's just the nature of this game. Sometimes they go in, sometimes they don't.

I left it all out there, and I'm proud of myself.

Q. Was the first time you saw your position when you signed your card?

TREY MULLINAX: Yeah, on 18, I took a second in the tunnel because I saw that I was probably going to finish 31. I mean, everybody is going to be like, oh, you left the putt on 18 short, but I was trying to hit a good putt. I wasn't trying to knock that six feet past or anything like that. I was just trying to hit the putts that I've been hitting all day.

The greens, they've got a lot of burnt-out areas in them, so they pick up speed and they slow down, and there's a lot of burnt-out spots around the hole, so I thought it was going to pick up speed once it got to the hole, and it didn't, and just came up a little short.
