Quick Quotes

Q. After the start you had on Thursday, how proud and how pleased are you with the way you played specifically the last two rounds, even like Friday's round, as well?

JON RAHM: Thought I was going to pull an Olympia Fields. Things got firm, shot 10-under on the weekend again. This time I was too far away. I keep thinking what could have been. There's so many ways to look at this. It was a really good stretch of golf. Those last 45 holes, to play it in 14-under par with one bogey, that was some really good golf. Tee to green, felt great, especially off the tee felt really, really good.

At the same time I keep thinking my last 36 holes, I didn't birdie any par-5s, and on 17 I was within 50 yards twice on Saturday and Sunday and the best I could get was 17 feet for birdie.

There's eight holes right there, what could have been. But I think the obvious mistake was being 5-over par through 27. If I could have remedied that a little bit somehow, maybe it would be a different story.

Q. What did you figure out over the weekend that you can hopefully take to East Lake, a place where you have had success before?

JON RAHM: Well, I made putts. This was a stretch of holes where I made putts and felt really comfortable. It hasn't happened in a long time. I've had good stretches, but I made a lot of them, quite a few of them and quite some length. I made quite a few feet of putts, so feeling confident in that sense. And yeah, we're going to East Lake, which is a golf course where you need to do it all well. You need to drive it well, irons need to be on point, and you definitely need to be a good putter.

Again, I'm just looking forward to it. It's just too bad I couldn't give myself a better chance and get close to that top 5 in the FedExCup because that's where you really do have a chance. I think I'm projected 11th right now, which is somewhere around, I think, 2- or 3-under par. Eight shots to make up, it's a big number, but it's four days to make it up, so there's plenty of time at least.

Q. Your family life right now is so exciting and probably a little bit exhausting. Just describe what it's been like over the past month or so to continue to play at this level and --

JON RAHM: It's exhausting for mama because I've been gone. It's a big change. You go from one to two kids, you go from zone defense to man-to-man, so it's a big difference. I basically took on more responsibility, more time with Kepa, with our oldest, because she's obviously going to have to be more attached to Eneko since she breastfeeding. But like she likes to say - it's really funny - it's never easy, but she likes to say Eneko was born with a manual and he read it and understood it because apparently he's doing amazing things early on. It's making my life so much easier. When I wake up and I hear she's had a great night and he's healthy and eating and our oldest is also really happy, it makes being on the road that much easier. With as hard as it is, it's a lot of FaceTimes to see them. I get really cool videos. I got a video yesterday of Kepa watching me on TV, and he says the word "aita," which is "dad" in my native language, as he's pointing at me, which is really, really cool to see. He's kind of starting to get an idea of what's going on. A video of him playing peek-a-boo with our youngest while he was on the DockATot, it's things that even after the first round and not playing good, I finish playing and it gives me a smile and definitely helped this week.

I'm happy with what's going on. I'm eager to get back, hopefully with a title. But I'm really looking forward to getting back and getting a nice week at home before I head to Wentworth.
