BMW CHAMPIONSHIP

August 21, 2022

Scottie Scheffler

Wilmington, Delaware, USA

Wilmington Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Scottie, how would you assess the week as a whole.

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I think overall a pretty solid week. I made some silly mistakes here and there throughout the week that probably cost me the tournament. Overall I'm pleased with how I played. It's definitely good momentum going into the next week.

Q. Do you feel like you cleaned up some stuff from last week that you needed to clean up?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, I think so. Last week, like I said, I just had one really weird day. Outside of that, if that was a four-day event, I think I would have continued to move up the leaderboard.

Overall I'm pleased with how I played this week. Obviously I would have liked to have had a few shots back today, but ultimately I didn't play my best golf today, and I was still able to give myself a chance there coming down the stretch, and it would have been a little different story if I could hit the fairway on 17 or 18 and give myself some more opportunities, but overall still a solid week.

Q. You've been at or near the top of the FedExCup standings for a good while this season. What's going to be your mentality as you go into next week looking for the FedExCup and knowing there's going to be guys trying to hunt you down?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, just the same as every other week, just go out there and try and do my best. This is the only week of the year where you actually get strokes on the field, but I think I'll be best suited if I just ignore that and just go out there and play my game and do my best.

Q. Do you feel like that's the best philosophy, just kind of go see if you can win the golf tournament?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, just go out there and approach it like I would typically approach any other event, just go out there and try and get off to a good start and just play solid golf.

Q. Do you feel like East Lake favors your game?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I think so. East Lake is a great golf course. It's challenging in spots. You can get it in some spots. I think it's kind of one of those places where if you're playing really well, it can kind of open up for you. You usually see a couple really low rounds a day there and you'll see some guys struggle, as well. I think it's a pretty good test next week.
