Monet Chun

University Place, Washington, USA

Chambers Bay

Quick Quotes

Q. How proud are you to be here on the final day?

MONET CHUN: Extremely. I mean, I couldn't have imagined making it this far, and being here, it's an incredible honor and also just great to represent Michigan and Canada, as well.

Q. Canadian Amateur, runner-up in this. Pretty good summer still?

MONET CHUN: Yeah, incredible summer. Beginning of the summer I could not have managed that, either. So yeah, pretty happy.

Q. What was it like watching her play today? Her iron play seemed absolutely ridiculous. What do you try to do against that?

MONET CHUN: Honestly, I was trying to match it up, but it was pretty amazing just to watch. She was going for every pin, making every putt, and that's hard to match up, I think.

Q. What has this week been like in totality? A lot of golf throughout the week. How did you take it through to this point and trying to keep everything together for this final match?

MONET CHUN: Yeah, I'm definitely a little bit tired. I think my mom is probably more tired than me, though, pushing the bag, but I think I'm just going to get a couple days' rest and then head over to the CP and I'm excited about that.

Q. When I was listening to the broadcast this week, they said you struggled with your swing at one point. When was that, and what were you struggling with when you were going through that?

MONET CHUN: I would say even up until like end of freshman year at school. I was struggling a little bit. Just with some of the swing mechanics and stuff like that. It was hard for me to play golf on the course, obviously. I mean, I'm in a pretty good spot now, and I'm pretty happy about that.

Q. What did you think of the course?

MONET CHUN: Amazing. It's a lot of fun to play. A lot of good little hills out there that you can may, and yeah, extremely fun course.

Q. What's the most challenging part of it?

MONET CHUN: I think for me, it was personally reading the putts. I don't know if it's a different type of grass or something that I haven't been used to, but reading the putts out here was a bit challenging.

Q. What do you compare this course to? Anything you've played like this?

MONET CHUN: Yeah, when I played the British Girls' a couple years ago, I think that was probably the most similar golf course I've played.

Q. Where was that at?

MONET CHUN: Panmure Golf Club.

Q. Tell us about the support you had out here today, some of the people that flew in and were with you.

MONET CHUN: Yeah, no, incredible. I had both my coaches, Golf Canada coach, Salimah, and Matt Wilson, and then I had one of my friends I haven't seen in forever flew out, Sarah Bacchia (phonetic) and her mom. That was incredible. I got actually a little bit emotional on the course this morning when I saw her, but yeah, a lot of support, and I'm incredibly thankful.

Q. So you saw them during the middle of the round?

MONET CHUN: Yeah, yeah.

Q. What hole were you on?

MONET CHUN: I think I was on hole 4 or something. That was fun.

Q. What was it like having your mom on the bag the last couple days since you put her to work?

MONET CHUN: Yeah, obviously whole load off for me just not having to push my bag. Yeah, it was a lot of fun. I had good quality time with her. Usually she's like up in the mountains somewhere, so having her beside me was a little bit different, but it was a lot of fun.

Q. When is the start of the first event for Michigan?

MONET CHUN: I think we go to the ANNIKA Invitational. I think that's like the first or second week that I'm there, so yeah, pretty soon. Very soon.

Q. Some pretty good consolation prizes here. You get to go to Pebble Beach next year. Are you excited for that?

MONET CHUN: Yeah, incredibly excited. Haven't played a professional event yet, so hopefully some momentum at the CP will help me out, but I'm excited to tee it up again next year.

Q. What are you looking for in that event, the Canadian Open?

MONET CHUN: I don't know, I think just being able to tee it up with some of the greatest players around the world. Like the whole experience really.

Q. Will you try to meet up with Brooke for a practice round or something during the week?

MONET CHUN: Nothing is planned right now. I don't know. I really couldn't tell you. I guess it has to go by her agenda, so we'll see.
