Quick Quotes

Q. How does this feel?

EWEN FERGUSON: It feels unbelievable. Just can't believe how calm I was out there today. I think I couldn't have worked out any better playing with Connor. I felt although I played with him the first two days and he was playing so, so good, and I felt he was my main rival for the day, so managing to play with him and hold each other off and keep up with each other was so good. Just can't believe I'm a winner again.

Q. Your parents are relatively nervous watchers and your brother is a big supporter, as well. Did you say you gave your dad a call and he didn't even pick up?

EWEN FERGUSON: I called him. He's probably at a club buying the full club drinks, so that's probably why. My mom and dad were actually supposed to be here this week, but the last tournament they watched didn't go so well, so I banned them for the week because I said that I need to focus. So went in the office and managed to finish it off.

Q. Understanding how close your whole family is, how much of a difference has their support given you throughout your short career already?

EWEN FERGUSON: Yeah, my brother and my dad are just everything for my golf. Everything, my whole family's life revolves around me playing golf. Their happiness seems like it's all about me and my golf. It's been a good year, and obviously you get times where it doesn't go so well, so I think you really need to appreciate things where you're picking up trophies or you're making cuts and you're doing all right because it's a really tough game.

Q. You said one of your goals earlier this week was to get into the DP World Tour Championship. Was that lingering in your mind at all?

EWEN FERGUSON: It actually was a wee bit. When I went back to tie for the lead, I thought, if I still finish second I'll still maybe get into the World Tour event in Dubai. I love Dubai so I really want to go there and just -- Connor is doing that walk down the step thing that I was doing earlier. It's so good that I'm going to be there now. I was going to play six weeks in a row coming up, and Connor thought I was crazy, so I might take a week off somewhere now.

Q. 61 to start off the week and now you're walking away with the trophy. How are you going to celebrate?

EWEN FERGUSON: Just with a sprite and black currant.

Q. And then close it out wire to wire, does that make it more special?

EWEN FERGUSON: Yeah, definitely after I seen Sean Crocker went wire to wire in St Andrews, I'm good friend with him. I got the course record that week as well, which was quite cool.

But he just gave me a belief that I could do it as well. Seeing him do it and handle it, I felt like -- you know I've played with him. He's an amazing player. I just thought it was a good opportunity for me today to challenge myself to see if I could do that.

It's not easy. Every night you're going to bed thinking, I'm leading, I'm leading. Last night's sleep wasn't too great. It was bloody roasting as well. But, no, just unbelievable.

Q. Cooled down nicely for you today.

EWEN FERGUSON: Yeah, it did need that, to be fair. It was getting a bit hot.

Q. Did you talk to Sean at all about winning wire to wire, like what it was like?

EWEN FERGUSON: I didn't talk to him, but if I was to tell you what he text me, it's not good what he text me. Terrible bad words.

Q. What's it like being a multiple winner on tour? Does it feel any different to being a one-time winner on tour?

EWEN FERGUSON: I don't -- no, I don't yet. It's a bit early. Just winning once just gave me the belief that I could do it. Even what happened in Kenya, stuff like that, I took so much from just knowing -- I was leading by four there. I was playing quite good, quite impressive.

Just kind of learnt from that and tried to remember that that time in Kenya I didn't enjoy it. I was putting way too much pressure on myself and forcing everything, and then today I actually had fun and tried to smile. I said to my mum last night, no matter what, if I win or lose, I'm going to smile at the cameras so everyone is feeling happy at home.

Tried my best to do that.
