AIG WOMEN'S OPEN

August 7, 2022

In Gee Chun

Gullane, East Lothian, Scotland, UK

Mixed Zone

IN GEE CHUN: At KPMG, I was to happy to make a win, my fans, my sponsor, my family, they never give up on me and I really appreciate them.

Then after that, my goal, something changed. Growing up, I made my goal, just keep trying to go and catch my goal. This is what I can do, and I just got a boost from my friends and just don't give up.

Q. And to have your best result in this tournament, does that make you very proud?

IN GEE CHUN: I think I did what I can do. Ashleigh made a great up-and-down on 18 (playoff). Almost close, but still, I don't want to give up and I just want to look for another tournament, another day.

Q. And what did you think, that was one hell of a bunker shot that Ashleigh hit, wasn't it?

IN GEE CHUN: Just like, oh, it was a good shot.

Q. It was a lovely shot, wasn't it. Did you admire her play? She does a lot well, doesn't she. For a girl that hasn't won anywhere near as much as you have, she was quite good under the pressure in the end.

IN GEE CHUN: Yeah, she did it. I made a good third shot from the fairway. My putt was a little short but then she hung in there and she made a good up-and-down. That's how she made a win this week.

I think I did a good job, too.

Q. You did a really good job.

IN GEE CHUN: Thank you.

Q. Heading into today, you were five shots back of Ashleigh's lead. Being able to get into the playoff, what were some of the keys to your success and what do you think you did well today?

IN GEE CHUN: I just try to stay in present and it was my goal before start the final round. Then I played playoff, so I'm still happy. To be honest, it's not like happy-happy, but still, I think I made a good like result and just I don't want to like looking for any history. It's already done. Just want to stay in present because it was my goal and then I just want to keep playing.

Q. You did have some impressive shots in that playoff, especially your own bunker shot as well. Just take me through what the playoff was like to you and having it go to four holes from your perspective.

IN GEE CHUN: I had some experience from last couple years to play playoff. Then especially like wind strong and cold here, so I try just keep warm with my hands. Just trying to set up my mindset. I made a bogey, but still (smiling).

Q. You were able to win the KPMG, your first major since 2016 and then to put on quite a performance this week at the AIG Women's Open, how proud of the effort you've been able to put in the last couple months have you been with yourself?

IN GEE CHUN: First thing, when I made a win at the KPMG, I was so happy because my sponsor and friends and family, they waited and I show them something where I can give them something, because they always cheer me and give me love no matter what I did.

After that, just wanted to keep going. I feel like golf God want to -- not too easygoing, so I just want to like never give up and then keep trying. I'm always happy to finish in a good position. I felt like I had a great season, and I have more tournaments coming in the future, yeah.

Q. One final one from me. What do you take away from an experience like this?

IN GEE CHUN: From here?

Q. Yes.

IN GEE CHUN: I think now I have a lot of confidence I can play well at links course.
