UTAH CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY ZIONS BANK

August 6, 2022

Mark Anderson

Farmington, Utah

Press Conference

Q. All right, Mark, it's been a great week for you. Walk me through today and then your week as a whole.

MARK ANDERSON: It's been fun. I love coming out here. I've always enjoyed coming to Utah to play. That was an added bonus. It's been a little cooler this week, so that's pretty nice paragraph this week has been good.

Played really solid. Today was really nice to make a move and get in contention. It will be fun tomorrow.

Q. What is it about this place that you love so much out here?

MARK ANDERSON: I just like Utah. I love the scenery, love the golf courses that we've played out here in the past. The weather is always really good, except right now.

But, no, this course is fun. You got to make a lot of birdies, but kind of used to that this year.

So it's coming together nicely the first three days.

Q. Walk me through your game. How is it feeling all together, particularly today on your round?

MARK ANDERSON: It was good. Felt like just the last few days. I didn't make as many mistakes today. Kind of just keeping the ball in play and taking advantage of the par-5s this week. That's really important.

I've done really well at that, so more tomorrow, see what happens.

Q. Currently clubhouse leader. We will see if we can get the rest in today. This will be your fourth time having a 54-hole lead; you've converted two of those into wins. Having those in your back pocket, how much do you rely on those memories?

MARK ANDERSON: Just remember you got to keep the pedal down, especially our out here. Somebody is going to go low tomorrow, kind of like I did today, so definitely going to need a low round.

Don't get complacent and try and shoot a number.

Q. We got to ask, you're in that 50 range right now in the rankings with four more events after this. How much do you think about that and what are your thoughts heading into the last couple weeks?

MARK ANDERSON: I don't think about it much. I'm kind of in no-man's land there, I don't know, 40 something. Yeah, I mean, I got to win. That's always kind of helpful. Focuses the mindset a little bit. There is no hanging on to a position or a lot of pressure to keep your card even or get to the playoffs.

I need to win and I've known that so it'll be if you know.

Q. You've got your tour card a couple times. Are there things you learned each time on the tour that you think you can take with you if you were to get that card this year?

MARK ANDERSON: For sure. There are loads of knowledge, experiences, some good, some bad. But you kind of put all those together and work with what I've got, I'm really looking forward to the opportunity.

Q. If you could compare your game now to the previous two times of getting your card, where would you say you are mentally, physically, everything?

MARK ANDERSON: Much better. Mentally, physically, yeah, really a much better spot. So I feel really comfortable with my game. I have all year. So I'm just looking forward to the next few weeks and seeing what we can do with it.

Q. Last question: How will you prepare for tomorrow with the weather coming in?

MARK ANDERSON: Same thing I've done, go back to the house and have a Wasatch Apricot and watch some TV.

Q. What is your best finish in Utah? You said you like playing here.

MARK ANDERSON: I don't remember, to be honest with you. I've never won. I honestly can't tell you.

Q. Did you play when it was at Willow Creek?

MARK ANDERSON: I did. Willow Creek, Thanksgiving Point, out here a couple times. Kind of it's gone back a number of years.

Q. I noticed you made a bogey on 16 and jumped right back in with a birdie. What happened there?

MARK ANDERSON: 16?

Q. Yeah.

MARK ANDERSON: Hit a poor drive and did the same thing I did the first day. Hit it behind the hole. Just can't (Wind interference.) Two bad putts and luckily 17 was a nice little bounceback, take some momentum into tomorrow.
