AIG WOMEN'S OPEN

August 5, 2022

Louise Duncan

Gullane, East Lothian, Scotland, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. How was that today?

LOUISE DUNCAN: It was a bit of a grind but I'm happy with the score at the end of the day, 2-under for two rounds under Muirfield in testing conditions is quite good so I'm happy with that.

Q. How happy were you today in the second round compared to last year, just professional and amateur, was there a different pressure?

LOUISE DUNCAN: Not really, no. I kind of just knew it wasn't going to be that easy, so I knew what to expect and I knew that I just had to stick in there. I had a wee bit of a tough time going around 6, 7, 8. So I just stuck in there and yeah, I had a decent back nine which there was a few chances left out there. So I know the score could have been even better.

Q. 13, what did you hit in there?

LOUISE DUNCAN: I hit 7-iron. That was the best shot of the day by far. That was flush.

Q. Are you a different golfer than you were a year ago at Carnoustie?

LOUISE DUNCAN: I'm a different person I think, maybe not a different golfer, definitely developed some skills but I stayed really calm out there, even when it was tough. But I think Dean, my caddie influence that had a bit. He could tell I was getting a bit hot headed.

Q. What does he do in those moments?

LOUISE DUNCAN: He tells me to stop being an idiot and just calm down really and take one shot at a time, which is cliché, but what you have to do out there especially around that tough golf course.

Q. Did you know what was going on at the second hole?

LOUISE DUNCAN: I was right beside him when he threw it. So I was like, oh, no, you haven't just done that. But it was an honest mistake and yeah, it was quite funny. He's got loads of those things, so that served him.

Q. So there is going to be a pay cheque, what's the mindset going to be on the weekend?

LOUISE DUNCAN: Just play the way I have been playing. I hit a few loose drives out there. If I can hit more fairways and more greens, which ultimately means more chances, so yeah, just got to stick in there.

Q. Tough course to really go attack on, isn't it. Almost a consolidation day is sometimes better, keep you moving forward.

LOUISE DUNCAN: You just can't go at any pins really. I don't think we purposely went at any pins out there, maybe one. But you just need to putt it in the right spot and 2-putt and take your par and if it goes in for birdie, good, and if not, take a par because par is your friend.

Q. Will a big cheque change the wedding plans, a bigger one or a smaller one?

LOUISE DUNCAN: I had said we were going to go, if it's a big, big pay cheque just go abroad and get it over with, in the nicest way possible -- before that comes across bad (laughter) sorry, Jordan. But nicest way possible, go abroad and have a good time.
