AIG WOMEN'S OPEN

August 4, 2022

Jessica Korda

Gullane, East Lothian, Scotland, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. Good round today, how long was that eagle putt, would you say?

JESSICA KORDA: Probably like 20-ish feet, yeah, uphill into the wind, spraying. Got there.

Q. You still haven't got your suitcase?

JESSICA KORDA: Nope. So if anyone knows anyone at the Zurich airport that would like to put my suitcase on the one flight a day that they have coming into Edinburgh, I'd deeply appreciate it.

Q. Probably gone now.

JESSICA KORDA: No, I know where it is. I have an air tag on it. I can't get anyone to actually go get it.

Q. So how have you, you posted on Instagram that FootJoy had come to the party. How did you kit yourself out today?

JESSICA KORDA: Monday I wore Megan Khang's pants. Tuesday, I wore my sister's pants and Wednesday I wore Alison Lee's pants. And today I'm wearing FootJoy pants.

Q. Interested to know how Megan Khang's --

JESSICA KORDA: She rolls her pants up. Megan is like 5-foot nothing, so she rolls her pants up a lot. So they fit me perfectly, but hers, yeah, she rolls them up.

Q. About the test this week, it's known at the fiercest, and scores are quite low. Are you surprised this morning? Were you surprised?

JESSICA KORDA: I am not even looking at the leaderboard. There's so much going on on the golf course with the crosswinds, trying to figure out where you want to land the ball. It's nice, at the end I looked at the leaderboard but to be honest I was zoned in to what was going on. You have to stay on it here at all times.

Q. The crosswinds, would you say, are the key factor here?

JESSICA KORDA: Yeah, you've got crosswinds and all of a sudden you have the last couple holes are into the wind and 17 -- 16, 17, are straight downwind and then you get to 18 and it's a huge right-to-left wind. So I mean, yeah, I was glad I made an eagle on 17 but then I got to 18 and it was like that's completely gone. Like there's zero comfort on this next shot. I think every hole is really different and you've just really got to stay in it and pay attention.

Q. Does it feel unique?

JESSICA KORDA: It's links golf. I swear, every time we come to Scotland, it's just like the same stuff. You've just got to be really prepared and take it for what it is.

Q. Do you enjoy it?

JESSICA KORDA: It's really fun. Really stressful. Definitely would like to not have to put a score together but it's fun to be able to hit different shots. I'm aiming so far left or so far right of like my actual finishing line which is not something I do obviously on a weekly basis, so there's a lot of trust in my golf game. Almost like being willing to fail on every single shot, it's pretty tough but fun to be able to see the ball do things that you normally don't see it do.

Q. What are you missing most out of your bag this week?

JESSICA KORDA: My clothes. Other than my clothes? Sponsor's hats. Wearing a Muirfield hat right now. I have some great partners and it's just tough, when you play well and you're obviously in the hunt, and you can't kind of wear that. A lot of my warm stuff. My hand warmers, I'm a cold -- my hands get really cold so I wear gloves all the time. That, and I've got a lot of heat patches for my lower back and my vitamins, don't have that.

Q. How frustrating is it? Early on, you're calling and trying to figure it out but is there a point where you say, I'm just going to forget about it?

JESSICA KORDA: I gave up on it by Wednesday. If it comes here, great, but if not, it is what it is. At this point I'm playing a golf tournament. FootJoy sent me a bunch of clothes. Yeah, we just try to figure it out from there.

Q. Can I ask you one other thing, there's been a lot of discussion and some reporting about the whole Aramco and the Saudi involvement, potentially in the LPGA Tour. You're a young player and going to be out here for a long time --

JESSICA KORDA: I'm 29, thanks.

Q. You're still a young player. Does that concern you? Are you interested? How do you approach that?

JESSICA KORDA: It's all speculation. There's nothing out there right now for us. So right now I'm not making any choices because there are in choices to be made. We're playing on the LPGA right now and that's about it.

Q. So would you have an open mind, it sounds like?

JESSICA KORDA: There's nothing on the table. So right now, we're playing what we're playing.
