Q. Round of 69. Great way to start a major. You've got a big smile. How do you feel right now?

SOPHIA SCHUBERT: I feel good. Yeah, it was a good day. It was a little rough start, but I was able to get it back.

Q. Okay.

SOPHIA SCHUBERT: I doubled my first hole. I know, I know. But then I just kept my head in it and ended well.

Q. What was the story of the rest of your round? You said you kept your head in it. Was that the move on one hole at a time thing?

SOPHIA SCHUBERT: Pretty much. I kind of had to make myself forget about it, which was hard. Just focused on hitting fairways and greens, and then I knew if I kept doing that then the putts would eventually fall.

Hit a couple close ones that were just a few feet, which was nice. Yeah, just kept doing that.

Q. Remind me how many times you played here.

SOPHIA SCHUBERT: I played this course twice. I played here Evian in 2017 and Palmer Cup in 2018.

Q. I was looking at the Palmer Cup flag that's in there with your signature.

SOPHIA SCHUBERT: Yeah. It has my name on it. I was like, Oh, my gosh.

Q. That was pretty neat. That was in scoring. What do you think about this place? I mean, it's beautiful.

SOPHIA SCHUBERT: It is beautiful. I love coming here. I was just so excited to come back. The fans are great. The golf course is great. It's one of my favorites.

Q. How was the course playing? We got a fair amount of rain yesterday.

SOPHIA SCHUBERT: It was good. The rough was thick but the greens are rolling really great. I didn't think it was too soft out there, which was good.

Q. And overall, just you seem to feel good.

SOPHIA SCHUBERT: Yes, I do. I just love being out here. Just being able to be here and play is a blessing, so just trying to take it one day at a time.
