THE 150TH OPEN

July 16, 2022

Aaron Jarvis

St Andrews, Fife, Scotland, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. You just birdied 18?

AARON JARVIS: Yeah.

Q. To shoot even-par?

AARON JARVIS: Just even-par, yeah.

Q. How was it?

AARON JARVIS: It was good. I didn't really get much going. It was good on the front nine, just hit the wrong club on 11. It was gusting. We had a good number, then just went up, came down short.

Then 12, I should have hit it past the pin, but I just got too cute with it and came up short. It was a solid round.

Q. Was it more difficult today than yesterday? Or not?

AARON JARVIS: I don't think so. I just didn't really get much going. It wasn't like my putter was hot or anything like that. Just more steady, a lot of pars.

There are some tricky pins out there, though. It's tough to get to. The wind is howling all over the back nine. It's swirling all over the place. We'll see what the guys do this afternoon.

Q. You have a lot of support out here, a lot of friends and family. Do you know how many?

AARON JARVIS: I don't know, but it's a big group. Probably like 30 or so people. I know my family and friends have come out here, and it means the world to me to have all this support. They cheer loud for me, so it's great to have them here.

Q. They do cheer loud.

AARON JARVIS: Yeah.

Q. Are your parents here?

AARON JARVIS: Parents, brother, uncle, some cousins, golf friend from home, and just other people that live in Cayman Islands that came out here to watch the golf.

Q. And they all came here just for this?

AARON JARVIS: For The Open, yeah. Now I'm playing, so it's just an added bonus.

Q. Are they all golfers too?

AARON JARVIS: Some are golfers, and some are like just family friends of parents and stuff like that.

Q. Have you been able to try to like appreciate this place at all and get a sense of the history and how old it is? This is where the first holes were laid out 300 years ago, all that.

AARON JARVIS: I've tried. I think tomorrow I'll probably embrace it more just because it's a Sunday, so I'll probably enjoy the round even more.

No matter how I play, I think I'm just going to embrace the whole experience and opportunity that comes.

Q. What strides have you made since the Masters, do you think, in terms of your game? Have you?

AARON JARVIS: I think just more course management, more mental side of it than anything. I think understanding like how to get better is a big part because everyone's different, everyone like learns differently. So that's probably one of the major keys.

I think just trying to get better at what we've been doing. Just trusting the process. I mean, it got me here, so just continuing to get better at those things.

Q. Are you still in Vegas?

AARON JARVIS: Yeah. Just finished the first year.

Q. Do you know there's a group, Schauffele, Morikawa, Kitayama. There's a Vegas club there.

AARON JARVIS: Yeah, there is.

Q. Have you connected with them?

AARON JARVIS: I've seen Kurt, UNLV guy, spoke to him a couple of days ago. Adam Scott went to UNLV. I played with him in a practise round. We always connect. It's a good group of people. It's a family over there.

All of our guys made the cut this week, so it's pretty good.

Q. Do you get to practise with them?

AARON JARVIS: Yeah, up in Vegas too. Not really Collin because he plays at Summit. We go to Shadow. But like Ryan Moore and all those guys, Kurt, Taylor Montgomery, all those guys on Korn Ferry. We always go out and play with them.

Q. How do your teammates at UNLV react to all this that you've had going this year? Do they give you grief about it? Are they happy? Encouragement?

AARON JARVIS: I'm sure it's -- yeah, definitely encouraging. I'm sure they'd love to be in my position, so there's always a little bit of like -- but I mean overall there's a lot of support just from the coaches as well.

Q. Your coach is here from UNLV, A.J.?

AARON JARVIS: He came out, and then I'm looking forward to getting back to work with him in August.

Q. Were they picking your brain after the Masters, or are you getting texts from them at all?

AARON JARVIS: I spoke to them. Coach was on the bag, so he spoke to them about the whole experience, how it was like with the pros and stuff like that. Yeah, it was pretty special.

Q. What would be your one wish for tomorrow?

AARON JARVIS: Just have fun, stick to the process and go out and shoot a good round. Maybe shoot 59, something like that.
