WNBA ALL-STAR GAME

July 10, 2022

Jonquel Jones

Kahleah Copper

Chicago, Illinois

Team Stewart- Media Conference

Team Wilson 134, Team Stewart 112

Q. Now that the All-Star Game in Chicago has come to a close, what's your overall opinion on how the fans of Chicago have embraced the WNBA?

KAHLEAH COPPER: Just had Finals feels all over again. I think the atmosphere was incredible. Especially when Chicago Sky players were being announced. It just felt so amazing to be a part of something so special. Also, we are a part of Sylvia and Sue's legacy here being their last All-Star Game. So, I think the fans and the city really came out and it was a great place to celebrate.

Q. That moment in the second quarter, Candace got in your face, tried to lock you up, Sylvia dunked, what did Candace give you -- on the exchange?

KAHLEAH COPPER: "I know what you like to do, I know what you like to do. Of course, you do." [Laughter].

So yeah, I'm going to hear this for the rest of the year, so we are definitely going to have to win a championship, so we can forget about this part of the season.

Q. Kahleah, when Commissioner Engelbert was in here before the game, she talked about the possibility of playing an All-Star Game in a city that doesn't yet have an WNBA team.

KAHLEAH COPPER: Philly? Philly sound like a good place?

Q. Would you like to see it and what would you like to see Philly do next in the expansion process?

KAHLEAH COPPER: I would definitely like to see my city do something. I think it would be a great place for women's basketball to really start but also for All-Star, it's a good city, great food, great people so, yeah.

Q. Following up on what Candace said, I saw at halftime, you gave her a look, like she was saying something to you. Did you feel the competition like elevate as the game went on, and can you give us any more insight on what you were saying to each other?

KAHLEAH COPPER: It's funny, the moments where we're going at it, we came to each other and she's like, I don't like being across from you. I don't like this. I'm like, yeah, me neither. Let it be over and let's get back to the same side.

It's a good balance, and like, I miss you.

Q. Jonquel, did you know late in the game how many points with you were scoring and you and Kelsey were getting close to a record in points?

JONQUEL JONES: When I knew was when Dearica came to me and was like, how many points you need for the record so I can stop from you getting it? That was the only time I knew. I saw the points, but I didn't know it was close to a record.

Q. JJ, going off of that, what was your approach with those four-point shots?

JONQUEL JONES: I practiced them yesterday and shot it a lot in the warmups. I felt comfortable and confident shooting them. So yeah, that's all I was thinking about was just getting them up.
