Jon Rahm

North Berwick, Scotland

The Renaissance Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Thanks for speaking to us, 68, how satisfied are you with that score?

JON RAHM: I'm happy with it. Obviously that 6 over there, that's the one thing I wish I could have limited. I got really lucky, stayed short of the bunker, wasn't an easy shot but first thing was getting it over the lip and that was a mistake. If I make a bogey, 67 is a really good round of golf. 68 is good, it's just that 6 could have been avoided.

Q. From what you do week-to-week on the PGA TOUR, the DP World Tour, to come and tackle links golf, what's the biggest thing you have to adapt?

JON RAHM: You've got to control your spin a lot better. A lot of times we play tour in the US, even though it's windy, you need to, the speed of the greens and how far you can hit it. Out here you can get more distance off the tee, and then coming into the green, you can avoid and you can use certain slopes and certain shots to get it close to the pin.

There's a couple shots on the last few holes with short irons, I left myself a little bit too short. You've just got to be in control of the trajectory, right, pulling the right club and being committed to the shot.

Q. What was your favourite shot?

JON RAHM: 8. Not an easy hole, not an fairway to hit. 160 metres, uphill high, choked down a 5-iron and tried to just reduce the follow-through to get the penetrating ball flight. There's not as much room as it looked on TV. Making birdie, I stole one there. I was hoping to birdie 7 and maybe par the last two, but making birdie there was a steal.

Q. What's the vibe like this week, 14 of the Top 15 in the world, coming together of the two tours, what's the vibe like out there?

JON RAHM: It's good. I think everybody's happy to be here. You have a lot more U.S. players than maybe wouldn't have come and wouldn't have had an opportunity, so it's good to see them.

Cameron is playing right now unbelievable -- (wish he) wouldn't have been one of them but he sure is happy to be here right now, especially when you get a day like this in Scotland, probably the best day you you'll ever have in summer, enjoy it and hopefully the rest of the week is like this and we're going to get a firm and fun golf course.
