Q. Now it's concrete, you have a place at St Andrews; what's your reaction?

JOHN CATLIN: Relieved. Thought I might have missed that last putt that cost me a chance. It was nice when I found out that I was in.

I played The Open last year. It was the first time I've ever had a chance to play in The Open. I love the atmosphere. I love the challenge of links golf and I'm looking forward to playing there for sure.

Q. Most golfers, as kids they dream of playing at St Andrews, and you get to do it on the 150th anniversary?

JOHN CATLIN: I'm going to soak it up for sure. The history of St Andrews, as any golfer knows, you just stand on that first tee and turn around. It's a pretty special place, and I can't wait to play at The Open.

Q. You've played there a few times, obviously Alfred Dunhill Links. This will be a very different circumstance, but how do you like the course?

JOHN CATLIN: I love the challenge. Where they have the bunkering, you have to think what flight am I going to start it on, what's my target. There's some holes out there where if you just get the wrong spin on it, all of the sudden, you can lose control of it. I like that challenge.
