JOHN DEERE CLASSIC

July 1, 2022

Christiaan Bezuidenhout

Silvis, Illinois, USA

TPC Deere Run

Quick Quotes

Q. Good round today. Just get a few comments on what you felt good about today.

CHRISTIAAN BEZUIDENHOUT: Yeah, putter was definitely better today. Rolled some nice putts in today.

Didn't feel like I hit it as well as I've hit it yesterday. Just difference in scoring was the putter today. Rolled in a couple of 20-footers today which is always nice, yeah.

Q. And coming into the week you've had two top 15 finishes and two missed cuts. How have you felt about your game coming into the week? Are you feeling pretty good?

CHRISTIAAN BEZUIDENHOUT: Yeah, always work to be done. Last week I didn't feel comfortable on the golf course. I was back on the range on Monday trying to just work on a couple things that I've worked on at the start of the year, and just try to keep things a little bit more simple.

So the ball striking is just definitely improved over the last week, so hopefully I can keep it going over the weekend. Hopefully the putter can stay warm as well.

Q. First time here. What's kind of your reaction to this place and the course and so forth?

CHRISTIAAN BEZUIDENHOUT: Yeah, it's a beautiful golf course. It's a lovely layout. It's not too long, which leaves you with a lot of wedges in your hand. So lots of birdie opportunities, so it's probably going to come down to a putting contest over the weekend. Golf course is going to play softer with the rain and stuff.

Hopefully I can keep my putter warm and be up there come Sunday.

Q. A lot of guys toward the top right now, this is their first time here. What lends itself to success for some guys that have never been here before, do you feel?

CHRISTIAAN BEZUIDENHOUT: I actually think it's not a course that you need to know. It's pretty straightforward off the tee box. The greens are soft so you can fire at the pins.

So everything just comes down to short irons and putting. Off the tee it's pretty generous.

Q. Comparable to any other place you play on tour in terms of layout and how it looks?

CHRISTIAAN BEZUIDENHOUT: Kind of reminds me of a shorter sort of version of Muirfield Village, Memorial. Yeah, it's the same grass as well. Yeah, just reminds me of a shorter version of Muirfield Village.

Q. You had, like you said, some top 15s. You're playing well now. How do you take that momentum into the weekend?

CHRISTIAAN BEZUIDENHOUT: Yeah, I'm trying to keep on working on my game every day, just try to get better every day.

And then just you try to give myself chances over the weekend as well, put yourself into positions to give yourself chances on the green, and hopefully I can roll a few putts in.

Q. When was the first time you played this course? Tuesday? Wednesday?

CHRISTIAAN BEZUIDENHOUT: Tuesday was the first time. Yeah, Tuesday.

Q. Never even been to this area?

CHRISTIAAN BEZUIDENHOUT: No.

Q. So enjoying it obviously.

CHRISTIAAN BEZUIDENHOUT: Yeah. Nothing here apart from this beautiful golf course, so we've just been to hotel and back. Small town, so nothing much to do so.

John Deere is setting up a great tournament here on a great golf course.
