LIV GOLF INVITATIONAL SERIES: PORTLAND

June 30, 2022

Eugenio Chacarra

Portland, Oregon, USA

Pumpkin Ridge

Quick Quotes

Q. How would you sum it up?

EUGENIO CHACARRA: It was fun. I was a little rusty. It was like my fourth day playing golf after when I got hurt at nationals, so kind of a little rusty around the greens. My short game kind of let me down, had two or three three-putts and then couldn't make a lot of balls up-and-down. My long game was pretty solid, so I know what I need to work on for the next couple days to get up on the leaderboard.

But everything was great; organization, people and course is in perfect conditions.

Q. You said you got hurt?

EUGENIO CHACARRA: Yeah, last tournament at nationals I tear my quadriceps, so I was out until pretty much like Sunday was my second day hitting balls, so I'm like 20 days without working on your short game and coming to this rough and these conditions kind of let me down a little. I missed seven greens, and I was 6-over for those holes. It's hard to play against the best in the world doing that.

I knew it was going to be hard, but just excited for the new journey and try to keep working hard to get it better next couple days.

Q. That's the thing, it's your first round as a pro. You only get one first round as a pro. How memorable overall was the experience for you?

EUGENIO CHACARRA: Yeah, it was fun. Like I said, I hit the ball fairly good for how long I've been without hitting balls, and then my short game wasn't great. But it's just -- I had a lot of fun out there. I give my best. That's all I want when I get out there.

Just a lot of positives and kind of like get a new mindset for tomorrow and try to play better tomorrow.

Q. You have Carlos leading --

EUGENIO CHACARRA: Yeah, that's awesome. We've got a great team. Sergio and me didn't have a good day today, but I know we're going to have a couple good days coming in.

I'm so happy for Carlos; he's been struggling, and seeing him up on the leaderboard is something amazing. He's such a great guy and great player, so hopefully he can still keep it rolling and we can do a good thing on the teams, as well.

Q. How long are you going to keep the college bag?

EUGENIO CHACARRA: Yeah, I mean, like I said, everything was super new, so I'm working all that stuff, getting clothes, getting a new bag, getting everything, but right now I'm just trying to get healthy again. My hip is still pretty sore. Today the six holes were kind of tough because, like I said, I didn't walk in a long time. Try to get healthy and kind of try to get my game like it was a couple years ago and a couple months.
