HORIZON IRISH OPEN

June 30, 2022

Thriston Lawrence

Thomastown, County Kilkenny, Ireland

Mount Juliet Estate

Quick Quotes

Q. Opening 66, you start eagle, birdie, what's going through your mind for the rest of the day?

THRISTON LAWRENCE: It's nice to start like that. I chipped in on 10 and again on 11. So still 16 holes left, you don't know actually how is your golf because you've had a great start. Just stay patient. Around here, it's not the longest golf course. There's no wind today, so you have to hit fairways and rough is quite thick. After that, just stay patient.

Q. You mentioned trying to hit fairways, better than your season average. What was working so well for you today?

THRISTON LAWRENCE: Just going out on the fairway, yeah, the whole game was great today.

Q. Going back to the beginning of season, you started so consistent, a couple of Top 10s, do you feel like you're getting back to that form?

THRISTON LAWRENCE: It's been great the last few weeks, silly mistakes, lose momentum during the tournament but I'm feeling good.

Q. You've opened here with a 66, incredible start. Talk us through it today?

THRISTON LAWRENCE: Yeah, overall, tee-to-green was amazing. Obviously unbelievable start, chipping in for eagle. Momentum right on my side from the start and get going from there.

Q. The first win on the DP World Tour can be the hardest. How has it been since that incredible victory in Joburg to keep up the momentum?

THRISTON LAWRENCE: It takes a lot of weight off your shoulders -- winners category, but just I've enjoyed golf, working hard.

Q. Looking at your professional record, warmer climates suit your game.

THRISTON LAWRENCE: Today was nice, unbelievable weather. Tomorrow might change. It's treating my nice so far.

Q. How would you describe 17 and 18, primed for a bit of drama I would imagine in this week.

THRISTON LAWRENCE: Yeah, depending on the wind and the conditions, could end up crucial.
