U.S. SENIOR OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

June 26, 2022

Jay Haas

Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA

Saucon Valley C.C. (Old Course)

Quick Quotes

Q. Just talk about the four rounds. In particular, I guess, you had a strong front nine today.

JAY HAAS: Yeah, I got off to the start I wanted to get off to. Made a great save at No. 9, about an eight- or ten-footer for par there to turn 2-under.

Had to hit it well. Had to hit every fairway. I was looking forward to getting some chances on the back nine, and 12 really derailed me. I drove it maybe a foot off of the first cut and really, I don't know what I could have done differently other than hit my second shot in the fairway.

I pulled it a little bit and end up three-putting for 7. That really took the wind out of my sails there.

Made a really nice putt at the next hole, 25 feet for par, and thought I could make a few coming in but made another bogey. So a little disappointed in that.

Overall, a top ten is pretty cool, but don't feel like I played unbelievable. I feel like I left a few out there. So maybe there's a little left in the tank. I wish I could have gotten a little bit closer, but Padraig and Steve kind of set the tone for the day.

I figured somebody from the pack would jump up there, and Padraig, if he played good, it was a done deal. But Steve played a helluva round, and I'm proud of him.

Q. In the top ten, get to go to Wisconsin next summer. What are your thoughts about your 18th Senior Open?

JAY HAAS: Yeah, I don't know. Every time I play one, I think, man, this could be my last one. There was -- not you, but somebody said like on Tuesday or something that I had never missed a cut in a Senior Open. Maybe I should keep that record intact.

Where is it next year?

Q. Wisconsin. I'm not sure the name of the course.

JAY HAAS: I don't know the name of the course either. I'm sure I'll show up and give it one more shot.
