KPMG WOMEN'S PGA CHAMPIONSHIP

June 25, 2022

Hannah Green

Bethesda, Maryland, USA

Congressional Country Club (Blue Course)

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Here with Hannah green. Even-par, 72 today. Still well within striking distance of this major title, but overall, the hottest day we've seen so far of this championship. What was the experiences like out for you today?

HANNAH GREEN: I was sweating a lot in my warmup and I was, like, oh, Christ, this is not what I want. I guess the breeze picked up, so it kind of made it a little bit cooler.

It was pretty hot out there. I felt like hydration was really important. I feel like the first day I barely drank any water because it was raining, and today I was just, yeah, guzzling water.

Hopefully can get some good rest and hopefully be all right for tomorrow.

THE MODERATOR: Three birdies, three bogeys today. Was it just a battle out there with the mental side, with the physical side? I mean, it was still a solid round, but overall not what you had shot the previous two days.

HANNAH GREEN: I felt like I putted really well again, which was nice. Made some good momentum putts, but also leaked a couple of shots and made some soft bogeys, but that happens at majors.

I have no idea how In Gee will finish, but I'm going to have to shoot a low one tomorrow.

Q. Hannah, with the weather getting hotter and then tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter, how much of more of a mental test is it than physical to kind of get through all that?

HANNAH GREEN: It's definitely. With this golf course, too, you can have shots -- clubs that today and yesterday I experienced a lot of half shots, so it was hard to commit to that club.

Dealing with that and then dealing with the heat and just getting tired because it's Sunday of a major, it's hard. It's what we have to deal with, but everyone is going through that same thing, so we just see who comes out on top.

Q. Everybody talked on Thursday about how long the course played given the conditions. Well, they've moved it up, and it's gotten warmer, and yet, the scoring is not demonstrably better. What's the difference, and why is that?

HANNAH GREEN: I found like they've put a few tricky pins out there. You can't really be too aggressive with the pins that they've put. If you go for it and it doesn't work your way, you can easily make a bogey or a double.

I think knowing when you can attack these pins and whether you have the right club. Like I said before, I had a lot of half shots the last couple of days, so it's hard to commit on that.

Hard to know how it's going to react on the greens because you expect the greens to get a little bit firmer, which they did today. So hopefully I can keep hitting fairways, hit a lot more greens than I did today, and continue to make some putts.

Q. You spoke earlier this week you hoped that it would get firmer and faster, that it would set up well for you. How much did that firm up to your liking?

HANNAH GREEN: I think the course is in a much better condition. I feel like this is what we expected before the rain, so it's kind of nice to be able to see it and play how you want.

But I feel like today I had probably two club choices where maybe it wasn't the right one, so it's hard. It happens. Yeah, everyone is probably experiencing the same thing. I'm sure I'm not the only one that's hitting half shots in.

Q. You talked about the challenges of making it through a grueling, long week like this. What do you do to just try and make it to the finish?

HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, it's hard. I think making sure that you switch off when you leave the golf course is very important. Hopefully I'll go out for a nice dinner with the people that I'm staying with and just enjoy actually being in Bethesda because it's a great little town. I've really enjoyed my time here. Just going to do that.

Then I was hoping for a sleep in, but early alarm tomorrow and then maybe a rush to the airport, so just try and relax and get a good night's sleep.
