KPMG WOMEN'S PGA CHAMPIONSHIP

June 24, 2022

Brooke Henderson

Bethesda, Maryland, USA

Congressional Country Club (Blue Course)

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Here with Brooke Henderson. Just shot a round of 69 in the second round here at Congressional. Looked like another pretty solid day for you. A lot of birdies out there. Two bogeys. Overall, do you feel today was a successful day for you?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah. You know, to shoot 3-under out here, I'm really happy with that, and I gave myself a lot of great birdie looks.

And then a couple of holes where I ran into a little bit of trouble I was able to make longish putts to save myself and keep the round going and keep the momentum, which I think was really important.

Hopefully I can just go out and continue to ball-strike like I have been and hopefully make a few more birdies tomorrow.

THE MODERATOR: What were a couple of those saves that you mentioned that were key for the round?

BROOKE HENDERSON: On No. 1, which is my 10th hole of the day, I hit in the fairway bunker off the tee. Was still in the fairway bunker on second. I hit my third out and then was able to one-putt for bogey from 12 feet.

That was just for bogey, but it kind of saved the momentum, and I was able to get it back a few holes later, which is nice.

Q. Brooke, the field is actually playing a little bit better today. What about the golf course was different and perhaps a little easier today?

BROOKE HENDERSON: The weather was way better today. It was actually kind of hot, so the ball started to fly pretty well, while the greens were still very soft and very receptive.

It just played a lot different than it did yesterday morning for sure, so I could see that the scores were a lot lower. I was glad that I was able to be a part of that and get a little lower than I did yesterday.

Hopefully just continue on that trend and get a little better every day.

Q. Right now In Gee is at 10. There aren't that many people between you and her, but she is six shots ahead. How far ahead is too far ahead?

BROOKE HENDERSON: That's pretty far ahead, but it's just halfway right now. She's playing extremely well, and that's really cool to see. Hopefully I'll just make a few more putts and make a climb up tomorrow and see what happens going into Sunday.

You know, in a major championship anything can happen, and it's only halfway, like I said. I think I'll have to play extremely well and make a lot of birdies to put myself in a good position on Sunday.

Q. Brooke, you felt good vibes before on certain venues, depending on the number of trees and it felt like home. What's the overall vibe you've got here at Congressional?

BROOKE HENDERSON: I'm just so excited to be able to play here and just honored really. You know, walking through the clubhouse and seeing all the memorabilia of past champions and great players, but past presidents and everything, it's really phenomenal.

I think just excited to play here, and that has provided a lot of positivity and hopefully just continue to play well.

Q. You talked earlier in the week about how you and your sister and your dad worked together to come up with a strategic plan. How well do you feel like you've been able to execute that so far this week?

BROOKE HENDERSON: So far it's been going well. I might have to adjust a little bit with In Gee so far ahead and also the way the conditions are. It's very soft right now, and if it stays like that the next two days, I think you can be aggressive on certain spots, but also just playing smart on some holes.

It's a bit of a balance, but I think if I continue to ball-strike as well as I have, then I'll have lots of opportunities for birdie, hopefully.

THE MODERATOR: Have a great day.
