WOMEN’S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

June 23, 2022

Hannah Darling

Hunstanton, England, United Kingdom

Quick Quotes

Q. How do you assess your day two, good rounds?

HANNAH DARLING: Yeah, really happy to obviously be standing here. Played really steady this morning and made a few more mistakes this afternoon but thoroughly comfortable out on the course. Happy enough with how I'm playing.

Q. Match play could be stressful at times. How do you feel after a big week with two more days to go?

HANNAH DARLING: Yeah, obviously slightly tired but isn't everyone. It's been a long season so far.

But yeah obviously still ready and energised to keep going for the next few days. Match play is great and I love it, yeah we keep going.

Q. What do you enjoy about it that you seem to thrive at this level and this form of th game?

HANNAH DARLING: Yeah, I don't know, I just kind of like the one-on-one mentality. You can see your opponent right there, and you know you can see how their feelings shift and how you can be affecting them.

I don't know, it's weird to say, but I love the feeling of putting them under pressure because that's what it's all about at the end of the day. Just thrive in this atmosphere.

Q. Do you feel it helps you get wins? Your form has been on parallel and you seem to be a dominant force here. Do you think there's a bit of gamesmanship here and there?

HANNAH DARLING: Yeah, of course. Yeah, just carrying form as we go. But yeah, just letting it all happen and not trying to force anything at the end of the day.

Q. You have your dad here watching on and he must be enjoying it as well?

HANNAH DARLING: Yeah, he is. Probably aged about 50 years watching me in that last round. I love having my dad here. He wasn't able to get over to America to watch the Augusta National which was kind of unfortunate.

But you know, it's really nice; he was at Curtis Cup as well. It's really nice to have him there and supporting me through a week like this.

Q. You've been here before. You've been on the big occasions at all of the R&A events. How does it feel to be one step closer here today?

HANNAH DARLING: Yeah, it's always nice when you advance and you get a step closer. But again, a lot of work yet left to do so excited with what's to come.

Q. Live broadcast tomorrow. How cool is that?

HANNAH DARLING: Yeah, it's great. We really deserve it. Women's golf is no different to any other type of golf. We go out there and we thrive and we love it. It's nice to see talented women playing tomorrow. They really deserve it and we deserve it. It's nice.

Q. What did you hit off the tee on 15 today, the par 5?

HANNAH DARLING: I hit off 5-wood, and it still ended up down there. I'm telling you, driver, because like it all gets down there, anyway.

Q. So it was in the bunker?

HANNAH DARLING: Yeah.

Q. 5-wood.

HANNAH DARLING: Yeah.

Q. You should have hit driver.

HANNAH DARLING: Exactly.
