Brooke Henderson

Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

Blythefield Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Brooke Henderson. Another solid round. Another consistent round for you today, 67. Holed out from the bunker on 13. Walk me through that shot.

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, it was definitely a good one. Got me some momentum. I was disappointed I missed the green. Had a nice bunker shot there and I thought it was possible that I could make it.

So just really hit the perfect shot and just kept rolling towards the hole, and so it was great. I think the fans really enjoyed it and definitely kick started my day a little bit.

Wasn't my best day out there, but still shot minus 5 and still not too far away from the top, so looking forward to tomorrow.

Q. How do you stay patient? Started off kind of slow. Few pars in a row, and finally got your first birdie on the sixth or seventh.

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, it wasn't the start I was looking for, that's for sure. Yeah, just tried to stay patient and things started to turn around.

Overall my ball striking is really good right now and that's really exciting, so hopefully just give myself a lot of birdie looks and eagle looks on the par-5s and just see if I can chase down two great players.

Q. Just days after winning putting yourself right back there, how much do you call upon those feels for tomorrow?

BROOKE HENDERSON: It's so much fun to be in the final groups on the weekend. That's what we play for, and to be in contention and feeling the buzz from the crowd, that's the best feeling.

I think I'll be in the second-to-last group hopefully, and hopefully feel the energy of the crowd, and like I said, just give myself a lot of birdie opportunities.

Q. You said you were thinking about maybe making that bunker shot. How often do you step into a bunker and think, Hey, let's...

BROOKE HENDERSON: Not too often.

Q. What gave you a sense there?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Hoping to get up and down. I just felt like this week my bunker play has been better. Just felt like if I hit it in the spot right here on the fringe then maybe it could run in and go in.

I asked Brit for the line, the read on the bunker shot, and she gave me a good one. I'm happy it was able to drop.

Q. Obviously you've had a very illustrious career. You've been in the lead several times going into the fourth round several times. Now you're a few shots back. Does the mentality change when you're chasing as opposed to being in the lead when the final round starts?

BROOKE HENDERSON: To be in those final groups, it's just a lot of fun. Like I said, that's kind of what we play for, is to get into those final groups and be in contention and feel that energy.

Tomorrow I have nothing to lose. I can go out and be aggressive and try to make some birdies.

But, I mean, Nelly plays very aggressively all the time and Jen is playing amazing and making a lot of birdies, so they're not going to be easy to catch.

So kind of will take a little bit of -- quite a few breaks I think and some lucky bounces, but I'm going I am going to give it my all and see what happens.

Q. (Indiscernible) ... on this course and bounce back and play aggressive knowing you've been successful here before?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, being past champion twice here is really cool. I have a lot of great memories like around every single hole here, which is great.

Yeah, it's always very low scoring here, and just going to have to shoot a low number tomorrow, like I have in the past.

Q. The back nine, the three par-5s, is it like tomorrow anything could happen?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, it usually is Sunday on the back nine where everything -- that's where you win week to week, so especially with the three par-5s and the three par-3s those can be sort of challenging. So a good mix, but I think there will be a lot of movement, which is exciting.
