Quick Quotes

Q. Linn, welcome after an historic week last week but it's a new, innovative format this week. What's your first impressions?

LINN GRANT: We had a great time out there. Obviously Sofie's performance, helped us out a bit. I like the format. You make a bogey, you know you can make it up on the next hole and help team.

Q. You mentioned Sofie to your left, talk us through your day. That was a stellar performance?

SOFIE BRINGNER: Yeah, I played really soul made. Made a few mistakes but made three eagles, so that was really fun.

Q. You eagled the first hole and fired with birdies from there. Do you just keep pushing on?

SOFIE BRINGNER: Yeah, just go.

Q. And Trish, you're in the same magical trio, but you have your amateur as well. What was your first impressions when you knew he was part of the team?

TRISH JOHNSON: You saw my impression when I got the lucky draw. I was elated. Just to watch these guys play is a dream. They're both utterly fantastic, and if that's their idea of solid golf, God knows what their idea of good is.

And the both of you were absolutely superb today and Peter did, as well. It was a great week. It was tough but they hit some extremely amazing shots between the two of them and it's just great to watch.

Q. It's a unique form where you play with your own individual pod and trying to egg each other on because it's a team game as well. How much can you help each other in this sort of format?

TRISH JOHNSON: Technically not at all. Before we get into anything else, we didn't. I think it's just nice, seeing them hit some shots, I'm just, "Great shot, great shot." I'm saying that the whole time.

It's inspiring, and I'm trying so hard, just to make a little bit of impression, just to help a little bit, which I kind of did a little bit. I was pretty fortunate but it's great. And tomorrow is going to be really good fun if me and Peter both bring our A Games I think.

Q. Overall impressions of the golf course? It's super-hot out there and the fairways firming up, how is it playing?

LINN GRANT: It's firm. Whenever you hit the ground, the ball abundance of cautions up a little bit. The greens are great and the course looks absolutely stung.

Q. Can we just ask, is that the first time you've ever had three eagles in a round?

SOFIE BRINGNER: Yes, it is.

Q. And either of you girls, have you ever matched that, three eagles in a round?

LINN GRANT: I don't think so, no.

Q. For all your record-breaking last week, this is something new?

LINN GRANT: This is a new record breaking.

TRISH JOHNSON: Every putt was inside eight feet maybe. It was four feet -- the first was a longer one. But the other two were just, easy.

Q. What did you hit into the first?

SOFIE BRINGNER: 6-iron.

Q. Mid-range, 20-foot?

SOFIE BRINGNER: No. It was one putt though. Nine meters or something.

Q. So that was a start of the good day for the team. Must have been a great vibe, one way to the summit.

TRISH JOHNSON: I think it was quite quiet early on. I've never met these guys where before, so you're just feeling your way in a little bit. But as soon as they started making birdies, eagles, yeah, it was great fun.

Q. Two new friends for sure.

TRISH JOHNSON: I hope so. I hope so.

Q. And talk about your form, and today, are you pleased with the way everything is going with your golf game after last week and bringing it into this week?

LINN GRANT: I think it's kind of difficult to go from last week and still feel like I'm going to shoot well today. I started off struggling, I was plus three after six holes. Just that you know that you played good last week, so it's kind of hard not to think about it.

But I just try to get my way around the course and we're pretty pleased with the minus one today, get after it tomorrow.

Q. And your amateur, Trish, said a nice word about Peter. He's very much part of the dynamic?

LINN GRANT: Yeah, of course. Like you said, he actually contributed on a couple holes with a few shots. We wouldn't be here Pete minus 16 if it wasn't for Peter.

Q. You said perhaps you didn't have your best day but you contributed; is that the good thing about this format is that you can contribute throughout the round no matter how you play?

TRISH JOHNSON: I think when I'm thinking in this, I'm thinking more about the team format, obviously at the end of the day. I'm not going to beat these guys in any shape or form. I'm trying to make as many birdies as possible really or a par. Hopefully I made three today, and hopefully if I can make four or five tomorrow and help them out, we've got a chance.

Q. I think you are now leading the individual side of the tournament. How does that feel and to start and end with eagles must be nice?

SOFIE BRINGNER: It feels good. I haven't been in this situation so many times. So it's new for me. But yeah, it's very fun and I play good today.

Q. You led in Italy after day one?

SOFIE BRINGNER: Yeah, but that's another time. It's good.

TRISH JOHNSON: You've only played five events.

Q. You've only played five events?

SOFIE BRINGNER: No, this is my second team event.
