Q. 6-under today, that's a very nice round of golf here at St Annes Old Links. How are you feeling.

MATHIAS LORENTZEN: I'm feeling pretty well. I drove the ball very well, which is obviously good since you want to keep the ball in front of you. I hit a really good approach and kind of just trying to stay way from the pin around the edges and putted well. So really happy with my 66 today.

Q. It must inspire a lot of confidence moving forward in The Amateur Championship.

MATHIAS LORENTZEN: Yeah, absolutely, it's a new day tomorrow, and I mean, anything can happen but really pleased with today and hopefully I can transfer to that tomorrow.

Q. What were some highlights out there for you today?

MATHIAS LORENTZEN: I hit a lot of fairways. I didn't really miss -- honestly I missed a couple fairways but they were still in play.

I had an eagle down 6 where I drained a long putt but basically just putted really well. Had good speed control on the greens today and very pleased with how the game was all around.

Q. We've seen a few eagles on 6 today, what is it about that hole? Is it a nice pin?

MATHIAS LORENTZEN: It's a nice pin and the wind helps off the right but the fairways are very firm and the green as well. If you hit a good drive you have about a 6-iron, 5-iron in, which obviously you can approach the pin very well. I hit a good 7-iron into the green and made a nice little 30-footer for eagle.

Q. You made that sound very casual.

MATHIAS LORENTZEN: All I'm trying to do is hit the best shot I can and I accept whatever happens. I hit a good drive, and I hit a good 7-iron and I hit a good putt and then it rolled in. If I would have made birdie, I'd be pleased as well so it went in.

Q. Now obviously great round today but what's the form been like coming in? I can see that you're at college in the States?

MATHIAS LORENTZEN: Yeah, I just graduated from University of South Alabama, and now I'm trying to focus on playing golf. I'm happy with where my game is going at the moment. I've been working very hard with my coach and trying to move to the next level, and then just trying to keep getting better, keep trending, I guess.
