Frida Kinhult

Galloway, New Jersey, USA

Seaview, A Dolce Hotel

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Frida, a bogey-free day today. Right now the clubhouse lead at 9-under overall. What is about this course here that's making one of the best showings we've seen of you of late?

FRIDA KINHULT: I don't really know. Game feels pretty good and I guess it fits this course. As I said yesterday, like it's a couple of wedges out there so I think I'm taking a little bit of advantage of that.

Couple good wedge shots and making a few putts, so it's good.

Q. What were some of your favorites wedge shots of the day?

FRIDA KINHULT: I hit one to like a tap-in, so that's always nice.

Q. Which one?

FRIDA KINHULT: Don't ask me those questions. Somewhere at the front. No, those tap-in ones are stress-free ones. Those are always nice.

Q. What is about an event like this where you feel like you could come off any kind of day, and even if you're ahead or behind, can really take advantage of some of the greens out here?

FRIDA KINHULT: Yeah, you know, like any other course, it's a scorable one this week. Couple reachable par-5s. Tomorrow anything can happen. I can't go out and make pars; I'll have to fight for my birdies tomorrow and try to get a low one to get a W.

Q. Just how exciting is it to be the leader after two rounds and have a chance at your first LPGA win?

FRIDA KINHULT: No, it's super exciting. If someone put me in this spot on Monday I would take it for sure. I'm just trying to enjoy the moment and go out and have some fun tomorrow.

Q. What will you do tonight? Will you be nervous tonight? Will you relax? What will you do to sort of...

FRIDA KINHULT: Just keep to my routine, go home, have dinner, shower, enter the stats, and go to sleep. I think I have like a 12 day green streak on my WHOOP Sleep, so hopefully I'll sleep good again tonight to keep up with that.

No, just do like normal. Nothing crazy. It seems to work so far, so just stick to that.

Q. You've already accomplished so much in golf amateur-wise, ACC Player of the Year, Symetra Tour Championship. Do you feel like this is the next step or you're on the verge of taking that next step?

FRIDA KINHULT: Yeah, I hope. I started this year with a missed cut, but since then I had a couple -- like started making cuts but around 56th, 60th place, and then more around 20th place. I think I'm just working my way up. Still waiting for that win, so hopefully this week.

Q. Just a little bit about your round today. You didn't have your first birdie until I believe you 8 eighth or 9th hole. What started the momentum and the birdies for you?

FRIDA KINHULT: Today I had to fight for a couple pars early on. I missed a couple fairways that cost me a little bit, so I had to -- I didn't ease my way into it so I had to fight early on.

But then made a few and then got into better rhythm on the back nine. So I'll just bring that for tomorrow and hopefully a good one.

Q. Of course this 18 here is always one of those that a birdie or an eagle chances are there almost every single round. Being able to close with a birdie there, how important is that as you go into tomorrow?

FRIDA KINHULT: No, any birdie I think I would be happy about. It's a reachable par-5, so not all stress-free, but a little bit stress-free. Two-putt birdie, those are always nice.

I'm just happy with the way we grinded it out today; I'm pumped for tomorrow.

Q. A Swede with the clubhouse lead here; across the pond a Swede, Linn Grant, with a clubhouse lead at the Scandinavian Mixed. We were just talking about you and Linn have known each other for quite a while. What does that mean to you to also see Linn at the top of her leaderboard?

FRIDA KINHULT: I think it was good motivation for me. I checked all those scores this morning before going out, and she's a great golfer, a good girl. Yeah, no, I'm super excited for her.

I don't know with time difference and stuff, but hopefully I'll see her win tomorrow before we tee off here. For her to beat the guys out there would be really, really cool.

Q. I talked to Pernilla about your generation of Swedish golfers coming up, how the eyes have been on you guys, and now we're starting to see the fruits of the National Team's labor. What does it mean to see a lot of Swedish names at the top of leaderboards of late?

FRIDA KINHULT: I think it's great. I think when one of us win a tournament it shows the others also can do it. For me to see the others do great, it's awesome for me. I think it shows for me that I can do it if they do it, because in practice rounds we're doing the same things.

It's just good fun and keeps a happy environment around us, so it's great.
