Lydia Ko

Galloway, New Jersey, USA

Seaview, A Dolce Hotel

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Lydia Ko. A bogey-free day for you. Really taking advantage of moving day. How are you feeling after day two, especially after the differences between yesterday and today?

LYDIA KO: Yeah, I actually didn't play that bad yesterday. I think I made a lot of careless mistakes and I had a lot of wedges in hand and I felt like I kind of let the round become very mediocre, so I was a little disappointed.

Today obviously in the afternoon it's a little bit tougher just with the greens and then the wind as well, but I played really -- I was really patient out there and I putted really well, so hopefully kind of keep that momentum for tomorrow.

Q. Just take me through some of the highlights, being able to go bogey-free, carry over the momentum from last week as well. Just how are you feeling in your game going into tomorrow?

LYDIA KO: Yeah, the front nine I think I wasn't really out of position that much. I made a few crucial up and downs and good par putts on my back nine.

I had actually one of the best like bunker -- fairway bunker shots with a wedge probably of my life on 12.

Q. 12, yeah.

LYDIA KO: I think that set up a nice birdie opportunity, so those are the bonuses. Overall I think when I had to make the par putt I was able to make it. For the most parts, holed my birdies as well, so I have to thank the putter today.

Q. That bunker shot on 12 was magnificent. We were able to see it in the broadcast. Just take me through the decisions there.

LYDIA KO: It was like 70, like high 70s to the pin. The thing with that kind of length shot you obviously want to clip it clean, but then not too clean because there is a lot of long rough behind.

I just wanted to make sure I was going to chunk it if I was to miss it and go the other way, but I caught it really well and I actually had a similar bunker shot on the 9th to layup, which didn't end up becoming a layup.

I think I got a feel of how like my wedge would go through the sand, so that was kind of a good learning experience, and then that became -- on 12 it went into good use.

Q. The leaderboard is an interesting mix of non-winners and some veterans who have won, like yourself, in the past. Who has the advantage tomorrow? Is there an advantage having won before going into tomorrow?

LYDIA KO: I don't think there is like a huge advantage. Yes, obviously if you've been in the winner's circle or been in contention you do learn from those experiences.

But, no, it's a three-day event, so I think -- and there has been a low score between yesterday and today, so there could be another one tomorrow. I know Celine had a really low score last year to come from behind and win.

I don't even know how many shots behind is behind at this point, but I just got to focus on my game. I know there are some tough holes, but at the same time, some birdie opportunities, so try and grab those when they come.

Q. Just the mindset going into tomorrow, being able to keep the momentum you've been having, how comfortable are you feeling when you're not making those mistakes on a course like the Bay Course?

LYDIA KO: Yeah, I think I've been trying not to get too rattled when I do make a mistake. As much as there are some tougher holes, there are some holes -- probably a few more holes this week than any other course that you got some shorter irons or wedges.

I think being aggressive, but at the same the greens with get bouncy, so even you're hitting a wedge it doesn't necessarily mean you're going to be able to hit it super close.

Being strategic is key and keeping to my own pace and see what happens.
