NBA FINALS: CELTICS VS. WARRIORS

June 10, 2022

Steve Kerr

Golden State Warriors

Game 4: Pregame

Q. Boston had 61 drives to the paint in Game 3. About 15 more than they're averaging in the playoffs. How much of your defensive issues were simply not keeping the ball in front?

STEVE KERR: Yeah, that was a big issue. We talked about it at halftime, then after the game. Just point of attack defense. We got to do a better job with that tonight, for sure.

Q. You guys have been down 2-1 before. Klay and Steph and Draymond have talked about it. What's the line between the confidence of knowing you've been there before but the concern this could be something different?

STEVE KERR: You just prepare. You don't worry about all the angles, you know, opinions. It's simple: you watch the tape, you see where you can be better.

The one thing you can do is lean on the experience of understanding that it's 2-1. That's all. So get ready and let's play better and see what happens.

Q. Jordan Poole has had sort of an up-and-down series. Seemed like some difficulty in terms of finding the range. How do you get him going knowing you need another scoring option against this Boston defense?

STEVE KERR: I think our defense is going to fuel our offense. That will help Jordan get going. That will help everybody get going.

We're obviously at our best when we can open up the floor, get into transition. We did that in Game 2 by playing great defense, playing with a lot of force, rebounding.

We’ve got to rebound better. The other night we got crushed on the glass. They controlled the whole game. That made it difficult on Jordan and really the whole group.

So to me it starts with our defense, and that will help our offense.

Q. Can you give us an update on Steph's condition and what kind of treatment he might have undergone today.

STEVE KERR: We had shootaround this morning. He went through everything. He told me he felt good.

I don't know exactly what he's done treatment-wise, but the training staff says he's good to go.

Q. The reporting out there all over the place that Kenny [Atkinson] is going to coach the Hornets. Do you have thoughts on that? I think that's two off your staff who are going to take jobs next year.

STEVE KERR: Yeah, I can't say anything until it becomes official. So we'll wait until Charlotte says anything before we make any comments.
