Q. Here with Marina Alex coming off her first round at the ShopRite LPGA Classic presented by Acer. We talked a little bit about the course the other day. Anything out there surprise you today? Frustrate you?

MARINA ALEX: No. I mean, it was a little firm so you kind of had to play for some release on the greens.

Putting was tough this afternoon. The poa grows and there is a lot of little wobbles and just it becomes tough to read the greens.

I missed a few short putts. I had two three-putts on the par-5s, which was kind of a bummer. I missed a short putt on 2 for par and a really short putt for birdie on another hole.

I feel like if I putt a little bit cleaner tomorrow morning on fresh greens, I hope that will help that, you know, just kind of keep on rolling.

But I did make some really nice putts in there so I guess it always kind of balances out.

Q. Yeah. A lot of players have said today that birdie opportunities are there but a lot of them aren't sinking.

MARINA ALEX: Yeah.

Q. You feel that's the case?

MARINA ALEX: Yeah, like especially on the last hole there. I was on the green in two and I just misjudged how slow it was going to be up the hill, and then had about a six- or seven-footer and just kind of wobbled around and didn't go in the hole.

Yeah, just kind of that stuff keeps your momentum going, but I feel like everyone is going to face that over the next two days. You kind of just need to power through and keep your momentum up the best you can.

Q. Well, you have one of the best scores here of the day. Being a New Jersey native, how cool is it to see your name up there on the leaderboard?

MARINA ALEX: It is cool. You know, I've been fortunate to have some good success here in the last few years, so I'm just going to kind of keep building on the positive memories that I have, good shots that I've hit.

It's nice to have some support.

Q. Yeah. And you've seen some familiar faces so far out there?

MARINA ALEX: Yeah. Just a lot of people are just always, go Jersey, go Marina. It's nice to just be somewhat local to the area.
