NBA FINALS: CELTICS VS. WARRIORS

June 7, 2022

Otto Porter

Golden State Warriors

Practice Day

Q. Was it nice to see Gary get back in there Game 2 after the way his injury happened?

OTTO PORTER JR.: Yeah, of course. Yeah, it was exciting to have him back. But he's been in the gym working. We see him, how anxious he was to get back, and to have him back is just -- we feel complete again with him back, and with Andre back, we feel like more of a complete team now.

Q. How could you tell how anxious he was to get back?

OTTO PORTER JR.: The way he was just pushing it. Coming off an injury like that is kind of tough, especially your shooting arm. So we seen how he was rehabbing and working to get back.

Q. Everyone is saying that Draymond set the tone defensively in Game 2. What is something he does that inspires you on or off the court defensively?

OTTO PORTER JR.: Just the way he approaches the game, his mentality. I think for Game 2 he definitely had us really locked into what we were doing, especially our approach to the game, more physical, more upbeat, which definitely had us locked in.

Q. With Klay, what is it about his mentality that gives you confidence that he'll be able to bounce back?

OTTO PORTER JR.: Klay is just going to continue to play the right way. He was really great defensively for us. We need him to continue that for us. When we get stops, it can lead out to easier buckets for us.

Once he gets going, it's going to help us out even more. Klay is going to be fine. He's going to continue to play how he plays, and we're going to continue to look for him, screen for him. He's going to be great. He's going to be great.

Q. How valuable is it to have a mentality like his where he doesn't let the shooter's shoot mindset go?

OTTO PORTER JR.: He's never had that mindset. He's always next play type of player, his whole career. We know he's going to continue to play and have our backs just like we have his back.

Q. Memphis in particular was a pretty hostile road game series; do you think that's prepared you at all for what the Garden is going to be like tomorrow night just with the fans and everything, because we know Memphis in particular, that crowd was really energetic, and how that series helped for what it's going to be like for you here?

OTTO PORTER JR.: I think a lot of us played in hostile arenas before, so we know what to expect. We know here in the Garden it's going to be very electric. They're home, playing in front of a home crowd. It's going to be a tough game.
