U.S. WOMEN'S OPEN

June 5, 2022

Jin Young

Southern Pines, North Carolina, USA

Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Even par-71; can you talk us through your round today?

JIN YOUNG KO: I was very happy. I had some birdies in the beginning, so I was thinking maybe I win the championship. But golf you never know. It's like any given Sunday, right? But I'm very happy with the end result.

Q. Obviously you came up a little bit short, but what are some of your main takeaways this week?

JIN YOUNG KO: I think the U.S. Open requires a lot of very strong mental strength and then the shot skills, obviously, and how to determine which club to use.

So there are a lot of things that you have to think about. So I think that you have to continue to hone your skills and use your brain, use every power that you have, mental strength, and then continue to practice, and I think that this course is really difficult.

But I think I did my best, and I'm happy with that.

Q. Can you just describe how tough it was out there and how today compared to previous rounds.

JIN YOUNG KO: I think this was the most challenging one this year, and also at the same time I had the most amount of fun.

Q. Why? Why did you have so much fun?

JIN YOUNG KO: I think because the course is so challenging, but at the same time it is very reward. If you have confidence and if you think hard on which club to use, then you can reach a birdie.

But if you kind of have any doubts then you might get bogey. If you concentrate and you work really hard, then it is that much reward being and it gets a good result.

Q. If I could just ask about Minjee, who's completely pulled away from the field now, on the verge of winning her second major title, what has impressed you the most about her performance this week?

JIN YOUNG KO: I think Minjee is an excellent player. She has been a really wonderful player, and she has very powerful shots, and even though the course is challenging because her skill set is extremely high, so I frequently play with Minjee and every time I learn something from her.
