Lilia Vu

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Shadow Creek

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Lilia Vu coming off a 4&2 victory over Andrea Lee in the consolation match to finish in third place. Congratulations. 63 holes of golf this week. How are you just feeling overall?

LILIA VU: Exhausted. That's all I can say. It's tiring. My back is barely hanging in there. Going to have to do something before the next week.

Q. Yeah, it has been an exhausting week. Third place finish, best finish ever as a pro. You have to be happy about that, right?

LILIA VU: Oh, yeah I didn't realize until you just said that. Yeah, this is my best finish so far, yeah.

Q. What is your reaction to that?

LILIA VU: It feels good. I think I'm just excited to continue on and play better golf.

Q. What have you learned about your game, yourself this week? Something maybe you can take into the Open next week?

LILIA VU: I think that I'm in a good place right now with my mental game and my golf game, and I'm just going to take the same energy over to the U.S. Open.

Q. Speaking of your mental game, how mentally straining is it to play so much golf in so few days?

LILIA VU: It's pretty mentally draining, but I love golf and I love this place, so that makes it bearable.

Q. And also, I want to ask about the mentality after losing the round this morning, to just come back and be able to turn that into a victory?

LILIA VU: I had a really good week this week, so that loss, I wasn't going to downplay all my victories just because of that loss.

Ayaka played really well and she deserved it. Yeah, I'm proud of myself this week.

Q. Yeah, I want to talk about the first round today. Any reflections on that? What were the struggle and the lessons learned from that first round today?

LILIA VU: I think I was just a little rattled from the wind honestly, just trying to figure out what place to go. I think the wind is completely opposite of the entire week, so some short holes were playing longer and long holes were playing short.

Q. How do you manage that when a hole you've been playing all week is all of a sudden a new place to play?

LILIA VU: You just to roll with the punches.

Q. Just curious, is it exhaustion or dealing with the wind, what was the most difficult thing this morning?

LILIA VU: I think exhaustion. My back gets pretty tight throughout the day. It was really bad in the second round, like it was yesterday in the second round.

Yeah, just trying to manage that and then manage the wind.

Q. Is the back an on going issue you've had for a while ir is it too much golf in one week?

LILIA VU: I think it's just too much golf. It comes and goes. Usually I'm pretty good and I have enough time to recover. At this tournament it's just go, go, go.

Q. And speaking of go, go, go, when do you go to North Carolina? Have you figured that out?

LILIA VU: Yeah, in three hours, so I'm going to have to go home and pack and then get dropped off, get on a plane.

Q. Sleep on a plane.

LILIA VU: Sleep on a plane. Yeah, read eye. Those are great.

Q. As we said, this is one of your most successful events as a pro. How do you plan to replicate this? What are you going to keep doing?

LILIA VU: Just going to work on my weaknesses but also not neglect my strengths. I think that what I've been going for a while. And just keep having fun. Honestly, I play my best golf when I'm having fun.
