May 29, 2022

Sam Burns

Fort Worth, Texas, USA

Colonial CC

Quick Quotes

Q. At what point did you start glancing at the leaderboard?

SAM BURNS: I never really did, to be honest. When you start the day seven back, I knew Scottie was at 11, I mean, the way that guy is playing right now, who would have ever thought that you'd have a chance seven back? But I mean, with the wind we had today and the way the golf course is set up, to go out and shoot the score that I did today was really good.

Travis did a really good job out there, especially after the foul ball I hit on 13 -- or 12, just to kind of stay in it. Those last six or seven holes are tough, so yeah, I was proud of the way that we fought today.

Q. If you win or you don't win today, how much do you take out of the fact that you were able to do this in these conditions as hard as it was?

SAM BURNS: A ton, yeah. It felt like somewhat of a major championship type conditions where you're just going to have those stretches where it's really hard. But the way that we were able to just get the ball in position and get it around here in 5-under par today I thought was a really good score.
