Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Andrea Lee coming off a 2&1 victory over Caroline Masson during the round of 16. Looking at your scorecard here and I see you had a couple of early birdies. How important were those on the front nine going into the back nine?

ANDREA LEE: Yeah, really important. I mean, I bogeyed my first hole, so not the best start, but I made four birdies in a row I think 3 to 6 or something.

Yeah, I mean, Caro was playing great golf and I was putting some solid strokes. Got that rolling for a little bit, so definitely had some momentum there going into the back nine.

Q. I see you had an eagle there on the front nine, but so did Caroline.

ANDREA LEE: I don't think so. No, I think those were birdies. Yeah.

Q. I am looking at the wrong -- that's on me. I saw you had a little bit of a rough hole there on 15.

ANDREA LEE: Couple rough holes.

Q. So how important do pars become then on the back nine, especially at an event like match play?

ANDREA LEE: Yeah, definitely. I think some of the holes on the back nine are a little bit tougher, and with the hole locations and just trying to get the clearing points over the hazards, and 15 was a tough hole and I made a mistake. Caro hit it into the penalty area and I followed suit.

That's definitely not something that you want to do of you want to play it safe. So I lost that hole, but I stayed really patient. There was three holes left and just parred 16, 17, and thankfully that was good enough.

Yeah, Caro was a great opponent today so it was a tough match.

Q. You had a little bit of an earlier start than normal. Did you enjoy that, especially with the heat, as it's been hot?

ANDREA LEE: Yeah, it was definitely cooler this morning which was nice. I haven't had a 7:30 tee time in a long time so the 4:30 a.m. wake-up call was a little tough, but everyone has to deal with at that today, tee times just from 7:00 to 8:00.

Yeah, hopefully I can just get a little bit of rest in before this afternoon and just grab some food.

Q. What's the strategy? You have another round of golf ahead of you today. How are you preparing for that?

ANDREA LEE: Just got to hydrate, drink a lot of water out there. Going to grab some lunch. I think we're all going to be a little bit tired. We already played at least five, six rounds this week including the practice rounds.

The golf may not be as high level as we want it to be but I think all the girls are going to have to deal with the fatigue factor going into the afternoon.

Q. Your next round will be with one of the players who I just saw is going into a playoff, so they have even more golf ahead of them. Does that change your strategy at all?

ANDREA LEE: No, not at all. I mean, one of them is probably going to be pretty tired, but my match went to 17, too. I think everyone is kind of dealing with the heat and the fatigue for sure.

Q. Just kind of curious the decision here to not sell tickets and have spectators out here, does it feel like your playing college golf again?

ANDREA LEE: A little bit. I wish there were more spectators out here for sure. The course is amazing. I know it's a little bit of a tough walk for them but it would be great to have more fans out.

I think they're a little bit strict this week. It's still great to see some people out here.

Q. When you hit a really good shot, does it feel odd to not hear any applause?

ANDREA LEE: Kind of. It does kind of feel like college golf or beginning of COVID almost I guess. Yeah, hopefully we'll have more fans out this afternoon.
