Shadow Creek

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Madelene Sagstrom coming off a 2&1 victory over Ryann O'Toole. How does it feel to have won all three matches, three in a row?

MADELENE SAGSTROM: It feels very good. I mean, I've had to -- I mean, it was a close match today, too. We were all square going into 16, and the last two matches I literally won on 18 both rounds making two-putt there.

So it's been some close matches, but I'm happy to move through and playing tomorrow.

Q. You've played a lot of golf out here. You won by just one or two holes this whole time. How are you feeling? Exhausted?

MADELENE SAGSTROM: I feel all right so far. It's hot. You're trying to drink and just rest as much as possible and kind of what I've been doing.

My caddie was a bit angry with me. He's like, come on, Madelene. I don't want walk 18 holes. But it is what it is. I been playing some solid golf.

Just trying to get as much rest as possible.

Q. Yeah, I'm going to ask, you might have a lot more golf in front of you. How are you sort of managing that mentally, the idea of playing two rounds in one day?

MADELENE SAGSTROM: I think it's just pacing yourself. I know it's tough out there. You're just trying to hit the best shot you can, stay present, and just make sure you drink a lot of water, eat a lot of food.

It could be a lot of golf, but at the same time, I played a lot of match play growing up. We do play a lot of golf when we play match play.

Q. We talked a little bit at Founders Cup a couple week ago where you also played really well. What are you finding is working for your game as of late?

MADELENE SAGSTROM: I think I've really kind of adapted to the grind. I'm trying to stay a lot in the present, like not trying to let one bad shot define my round. Really just learn to let it go and just get back on the horse again and go again.

I think I been kind of stuck in that a little bit before, been stuck in that trying to be perfect. Now it's more about, okay, you take the good with the bad. This week it's match play; it's never over. You can have a 10 and lose one hole and then you can have a birdie and win the next one back.

So it's such a different mindset. I think for me, it's just finding that consistency, even though when I don't have my A game I can still play well.

Q. How does a tournament in a format like match play help you player for, say, the Open next week?

MADELENE SAGSTROM: I think just a golf course like this is so phenomenal. It's so tough. It's kind of what we're -- I mean, I haven't been to Pine Needless yet, but it's what I would say a major course looks like.

Just having a lot of good rounds under your belt is a good advantage. I know it's going to be a lot of golf, but it's finding that pace, pacing yourself in the right way, and just going out and try to win your matches as early as possible.

Q. Are you going to do anything celebrating tonight or just focusing on the first match tomorrow?

MADELENE SAGSTROM: I'm literally just texting my physio in the car. Going to go see my physio and going to order uber eats and I'm going to go crash.
