BANK OF HOPE LPGA MATCH-PLAY

May 27, 2022

Allisen Corpuz

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Shadow Creek

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Allisen Corpuz coming off a 6&5 win at the Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play presented by MGM Rewards. You are onto the round of 16. Congratulations.

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Thank you.

Q. How does that feel?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: I'm really excited to be out of the round robin and to get on to single elimination. Just want to see how deep I can go this weekend.

Q. Does single elimination intimidate you at all or change your strategy on the golf course?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Not really. I think I went into the last three matches trying to win, and there isn't really I guess any second chances starting tomorrow. Still the same game plan: Just trying to hit solid shots and find good lines.

Q. After tying yesterday, you came away all square. You're only leading your pod by a half a point going into today. Did that put any pressure on you to perform well?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Not really. My game is in a good spot. I really like the course. The greens are starting to firm up, and just trying to make some good pars and get a couple good birdie opportunities.

Q. You went 1-up on 1 and just went up from there. You hardly lost any holes; two holes you lost. What was working in your game today right off the bat?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, just made a really solid par on the first hole. The greens are so firm, so really just focusing on hitting greens even if it's not as close as you want to be, and just hit good birdie putts and try to get the par putt conceded.

Q. Wondering if you thought back at all about the putt on 18 yesterday that probably nine times out of ten that putt is not going to go in, but that's what got you into this round probably.

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Uh-huh.

Q. Any thoughts overnight about that putt?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, my mom was just watching that video over and over again, and you can actually hear her scream in the background of it.

But, I mean, like you said, like most of the time it doesn't go in. Really grateful that it did. But, you know, I think it was just a really good match and I didn't want to lose there so was able to put a good stroke on it and was lucky to hit the hole.

Q. Looks like your match tomorrow is going to be with Lilia Vu, two young American players people probably don't know a lot about. Do you think that says anything about the depth of American players?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, absolutely. Lilia is a fantastic player. She's one year older than me and I've known her for a really long time. I've just been beaten by her a lot, but really excited to get out there and have a good match with her tomorrow.

Q. What do you do to get yourself ready for possibly 36 holes tomorrow and hopefully 72 holes in two days?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, just really trying to balance rest and practice. Just going to kind of think about my round today and see where I could have maybe done a little better and go practice a couple shots.

But mostly just trying to get out of the heat and get some rest.

Q. After playing all 18 holes yesterday, how happy of you to get off the golf course early today?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, it's always really nice. It's definitely an advantage to just get done with your match. I think this is a course also where the finishing holes are so tough that you don't really want to leave it to those holes if you have that chance.

So once I started getting up, I did kind of tell myself, like try to close it out early.
