Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Annie Park after her 5&3 win over Perrine Delacour to advance to the round of 16. So tell me, you went 2&3 I believe or 2&1 on Wednesday; you were all tied Thursday; played a lot of golf. How good does it feel to be off the course much earlier than normal for you?

ANNIE PARK: Oh, yeah, it's toasty out here. I struggled yesterday a little bit. I was like definitely dehydrated. And then I was like, you know I'm not going to make the same mistake again, so I been just chugging water yesterday.

Just been trying to like hydrate as much as I can and I'm still dehydrated.

Q. And with a win a tie you had one and a half points. You were winning your pod by just a half point. Did that put pressure on you to perform today? How did you deal with that mentally?

ANNIE PARK: Yeah, I mean, everyone in my pod, they're all great players. It was definitely a grind all three days, but I just tried to focus on my own game out there and just keep it slow and steady.

Q. I see you really dominated sort of the back nine, back 12 we'll say. What was working for you really well back there?

ANNIE PARK: Yeah, I think I just -- you know, yesterday I was kind of struggling on the back nine, so today I told myself, let's just keep it consistent. Just think about one shot at a time, not think about the results, and just go for the ride.

Q. Annie, feels like you're exhausted after just 14, 15 holes today.

ANNIE PARK: Uh-huh.

Q. What are you going to do to be ready for maybe 36 tomorrow or 72 on the weekend?

ANNIE PARK: Yeah, definitely going to chug some more water. I'm honestly like -- okay, I went to GNC earlier this week and I bought a lot of electrolytes. Like I'm not joking, like five bags. I think I went through at least three so far. I don't know if I should be concerned about my health drinking too much electrolytes.

It's catching up. You don't feel the heat because it's dry, but yesterday and today was windy and like your throat and nose is getting dry out there.

So just trying to focus on my body, and if my body is good, I'm going to start playing well. So just kind of thinking about how can I take care of my body on and off the course, and that's just eating incrementally out there and just fueling right and drinking a lot of water.

Q. Watched a little bit of you on the front nine. You looked like you were playing really, making birdies. The back nine looks like it was all pars that got the job done. Is that a function of the course or just how it unfolded today?

ANNIE PARK: Yeah, I think honestly, this is one of the greatest golf courses that we get to play. I enjoy playing here. What is it -- I mean it's not an easy golf course, and if -- pars are good, birdies are amazing.

I think the back nine there is a lot of birdie holes out there, but just focusing on one shot at a time earlier like I said. I think that's a huge key component because it's easy to make bogeys out there, too. I think definitely learned that yesterday. (Laughter.)

So definitely focusing on that.

Q. I have one more for you. You played here at Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play last year and you didn't make it to the round of 16. Did you learn anything from last year that helped and you applied to your game for this year?

ANNIE PARK: Yeah, honestly, just it's a golf course that you kind of have to just think strategically and just play the shots right. It's a lot of luck, too, you know.

So just, you know, not really being too aggressive; couple of the shots, but being aggressive when I need to be, and I'm just kind of having that good balance out here.

That's something that I learned last year.

Q. What do you enjoy about the match play format?

ANNIE PARK: Yeah, I personally love playing match play. Sometimes it's birdies that are winning and sometimes it's pars winning.

You can have one bad hole but still have so many shots to play, and I think that's one f the great things about match play.

Q. Playing this tournament a week before the U.S. Women's Open what advantage does that have for you?

ANNIE PARK: Yeah, I think it's a great week for me just kind of warming up for next week, but just also seeing good shots out here this week and seeing some really good putts, and I think that's really helping me go into next week.
