Jodi Ewart

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Shadow Creek

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Jodi Ewart Shadoff, 6&5 win over Ally Ewing. Looked like a pretty steady round of golf out there. Took the lead at No. 3 and just cruised on from a there. Tell us the story of your match. How did you play today?

JODI EWART SHADOFF: Yeah, I played really decent. I was hitting a lot of good shots and just managed to drop some putts out there.

I was rolling the ball really well, so I gave myself a lot of opportunities and just took them.

Q. Do you think some of that was being in a good -- did you wake up feeling you had this in you, or is that just one of the beautiful things of match play, too?

JODI EWART SHADOFF: Yeah, I really love match play. Anything can happen. I been playing really solid recently, just been kind of working very hard on my putting with my coach.

It seems to be paying off. So, yeah, I'm excited for tomorrow and Friday and see what happens.

Q. Being match play we don't see a lot of stats that we normally do. Did you feel the putting work was helping today?

JODI EWART SHADOFF: Oh, 100%. Yeah, I've been working really hard on my tempo. It's been really helpful with the pace and speed control, so I felt like coming into this week I put a lot of hard work into doing that, and, yeah, I saw the results out there on the course today.

Q. Growing up in England and across Europe you guys play so much more match play than we do here in the States. You say you like match play. What is it about match play and what is your history?

JODI EWART SHADOFF: Yeah, I grew up playing a lot of match play. A lot of our tournaments in Europe and England were all match play, so I have a lot of experience. I played three Solheim Cups, so I have that under my belt, too.

I think just really love the kind of head-to-head aspect of it. You know, score doesn't really matter at the end of the day in match play, which you can -- I tend to play more aggressively, so definitely helps.

Q. First time playing here at Shadow Creek?

JODI EWART SHADOFF: Yeah.

Q. What's the experience like?

JODI EWART SHADOFF: It's amazing. Golf course is in incredible condition. You know, it's one of the best courses I think I played in the U.S.

So, yeah, it's such a great course and a really good challenge, and I think it's really perfect course for a match play event.

Q. What takeaways do you take from today's match? Big win over the defending champion.

JODI EWART SHADOFF: I think I just go out tomorrow and same game plan. Just I think hitting -- I usually hit a lot of fairways and greens, and I think out here that's kind of important I think just with the difficulty of the golf course, and I think that's playing into -- it's a big advantage for me, so I think just more of the same tomorrow hopefully.
