PGA CHAMPIONSHIP

May 20, 2022

Brooks Koepka

Southern Hills Country Club

Flash Quotes

JOHN DEVER: Good afternoon. Welcome back to the 2022 PGA Championship here at Southern Hills Country Club, Tulsa, Oklahoma. We are joined by Brooks Koepka, who put forth a second-round 67, 3-under par. He is 2-over for the championship. Looking at your card and watching some on TV, another strong start, kind of found the form that we're familiar seeing you with at the PGA Championship and you kind of rode it all the way through. That's a pretty darned good round in the conditions we have here today.

BROOKS KOEPKA: Yeah, I thought so. I putted really well. Short game is right where it should be. Chipping it well, putting it well, and if you get out of position in the rough, it's quite difficult to play this place.

Q. What was the difference from your first nine to your last 27 in the tournament, the way that nine yesterday where you had I think four bogeys?

BROOKS KOEPKA: You can't play from the rough. Simple. If you're going to put it in the rough it's going to be quite difficult to even get the ball close. I haven't hit many more fairways, but when I do hit the fairway, I give myself a good chance.

But like I said, the short game is pretty solid. Putted real well. Yeah, that's what kind of saved me today.

Q. Do you feel like you're back in the tournament now?

BROOKS KOEPKA: I don't know, probably one more good round. Maybe one deep round. Maybe.

I mean, it's going to take more than that just to come close, but yeah, definitely need one really good round.

Q. I think they didn't mow the greens this morning. Did you notice them playing a little slower?

BROOKS KOEPKA: Yeah. Yeah. They're definitely slower. You figure -- they can't get that fast anyway just because they're pretty slopey, but I don't think these green surfaces are the smoothest to begin with.

And then after not mowing them you see a little of a trample effect and everything, so it'll be nice to have some fresh greens this weekend.

Q. Can you describe what it was like playing in the weather conditions this morning and how much this event might change over the weekend with how the weather is going to keep changing?

BROOKS KOEPKA: Yeah, I mean, it's supposed to keep blowing, right? Maybe not as hard, I don't know. I haven't looked, paid any attention to it. But temperature doesn't -- guys won't be hitting it as far. But it shouldn't change too much.

If it's going to be blowing, it's going to be quite difficult. You've got to put it in the right spots. But main thing out here is to put it in the fairway and you'll be all right.

Q. Was it windier today or yesterday?

BROOKS KOEPKA: What do you think?

Q. I don't know, my hair has been blowing either day.

BROOKS KOEPKA: Yeah, okay. Yesterday it wasn't blowing this hard.
