Flash Quotes

Q. What was the toughest part about today?

JON RAHM: I don't know what the toughest part is. Everything was difficult. I had two good things going for me, I felt good on the greens, and I felt very good off the tee, which is two very big parts.

Played really good off the tee and gave myself a lot of chances. Stayed aggressive, and then even some of the fairways that I missed I had a short enough club to still be somewhat aggressive and be able to hit the green.

And then lag putting I think was the most important thing today. I did it beautifully. It's very easy to hit your shots and end up 30, 40, 50 feet away and I was able to two-putt all of them, so that's definitely a bonus.

Q. It looks like the theory of the waves here is that you have a good morning and then you have a bad afternoon or then the other way around; it's not like that?

JON RAHM: No, they said the wind was going to go down this afternoon. No, it's not; it's Oklahoma. It's going to stay just as windy as we had. I mean, it was a little bit easier yesterday morning. Definitely you could see. There was 40 people that were even par or better yesterday, and that was pretty much impossible in the afternoon or even this morning.

I think today they're going to get a bit of what we had yesterday, which was firmer greens, everything being a little bit faster, and just being a little bit more difficult. It's very easy to just start the wrong way and have to catch up on a golf course that just doesn't let you.

Q. What parts of your game do you wish would have gone better Thursday and Friday, and what is your focus for the weekend?

JON RAHM: I can't say I played bad. I gave myself a lot of chances. I think the main thing yesterday was a couple mistakes, just mental mistakes. There was three; one on 8, skulling that chip. Should have made something better than a 6 on 13 with a 5-iron in my hands. And putting it on dry land on 17.

Those are three shots that I could have done better and I could be at 1-under right now, and that was just strictly mental.

Today I can't ask much more of myself. It was a good day, it was good golf. Just tough. And I played really good to show 1-under.
