LOTTE CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY HOAKALEI

April 16, 2022

Allisen Corpuz

Ewa Beach, Oahu, Hawaii, USA

Hoakalei Country Club

Press Conference

ALLISEN CORPUZ: But I'm really proud of how I finished today.

Q. Overall what's the whole experience been like this week with the fans, with family around, playing in front of hometown? What's the experience been?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: It's been so awesome. Kind of got stuck doing signatures after the round. It's just so cool to be able to kind of give back and take a couple pictures and just really having everyone supporting me out here this week.

Q. Overall, how was the game today?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Really solid. I think couple of mistakes, but with how tough it was playing I'm pretty proud of how I finished.

Q. You talked about growing up coming to this tournament, being one of those young girls outside the ropes. Now that you're on the other side and you have little girls looking up to you now, what's that mean to you?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: It means so much. It really is special to have parents tell me I'm an inspiration for their kid. It feels great to be a role model for them.

Q. As a former USC Trojan myself I just want to say, Fight on. How cool is it to be -- you're so young in the sport -- to be competing with some of the best in the game?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: It is awesome. I've had a couple really great opportunities to play with players that I've seen on TV. Pernilla and Chella both today were so sweet.

It's just so awesome to get to talk to them and get to see how their games are.

Q. What's the main thing you'll take away from this tournament?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: I think that I belong out here. As long as I'm playing well I can definitely contend and finish well. I think that'll give me a lot of confidence throughout the season.

Q. Had you set any specific mental marks for your rookie season, like here is where I want to be? (Wind interference.)

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Not really. Really just trying to improve throughout the season. I think I tied for like 32nd in Florida, and to be able to improve on that here is really awesome.

Q. What do you feel is the strongest part of your game Wednesday through today?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: I think I hit the ball really well, especially with how windy it was. Just really being able to trust my lines and maybe start it 20 yards right and just have the wind pull it back.

Really proud of myself for doing that.

Q. How much did the local knowledge kind of help you as far as that goes, finding the fairways?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, I think being comfortable in the wind is definitely an advantage, and just, yeah, like feeling like I'm at home this week.

Q. You just head straight to L.A.?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, tomorrow morning. Yeah, I have one more night here.

Q. One more night at home. What's the last thing you're going to eat?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: I think my mom is just going to cook. Yeah.

Q. What's your favorites thing mom makes?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: She's a really good cook. She makes everything well. But she did like Kimchi stew. It's really good.

Q. Which hole over these four days would you say was, if not your favorite, that you played the best, and which one was the toughest?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: I think 18 was really awesome, just to have all the people around the 18th green, and then I think I birdied it three of the four days. Just played it really solid.

And there are a couple tough ones out there. I think the par-3s, especially the ones downwind, were pretty tough to holed the greens.

Then the tee shots on 16 and 17 are just very tough visually.

Q. I think on 12 and 13 you had a couple of putts to save par. How big were those just to kind of stay steady and keep yourself in it?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, I think it's always really important to make those slightly longer par putts just to kind of keep the momentum going and just trying not to make big numbers out there.

Q. (Regarding the birdie on 16.)

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah. It was awesome. I really wanted that one.

Q. About ten feet?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, about ten feet.
