MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 10, 2022

Min Woo Lee

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Min Woo Lee, after the final round here at Augusta, on the front nine 6-under. Run us through it, and I want to hear about that tee shot on 9.

MIN WOO LEE: It just happened so quick. Poor drive on 1, made a good 10-footer for par. Needed to go to the toilet. Smacked my drive. Ran to the bathroom. Got down there, and I hit an 8-iron in, which is unreal.

Hit it just over the bunker, near those sprinklers just over the bunker, and it went to 3 feet. Then it happened really quick. Just nice -- hit really good shots on the front nine.

On 9 I just pulled my drive, and when we walked down, it didn't look like anyone was around the pine straw, so I said, hey, we might have got through that little gap. It did. I had a lob-wedge in there and apparently nearly went in.

I just got the news that it was equal the course record for the front nine. So pat on the back.

Q. It is. Mate, it was a game of two halves. The back nine, run us through a little bit of that and what you were feeling down the back nine because all of a sudden you're in the the top five. There are scoreboards out there. What was that like?

MIN WOO LEE: Yeah, I hit a good drive on 10, and I got really unlucky with the second shot. We couldn't find the pitch mark. I think it hit another pitch mark, and it just kicked left. Hit a really -- I hit a wedge into the -- pitching wedge and hit this nice draw around the tree, and it was landing in the middle of the green and just blasted off there. Got a little unlucky there.

11 just -- I made a good bogey there. I holed like a 5-footer. And then obviously terrible swing on 12, but ended up making a really good bogey. Even the next hole on the par-5 I hit it in the water twice and ended up making bogey, so it was a pretty good bogey. Nearly holed the chip.

It happened really quick. I three-putted 15. I thought that putt was the quickest putt on the course and ended up being pretty slow. Or I just -- I hit it pretty soft, but I thought it would go down.

Then 16 was a tough putt from over there. Nearly impossible to stop unless you hit it in the crowd and it comes back off of them. I had a lot of fun. It is a bit disappointing on the back nine, playing so good on the front, but it's tough. I would have taken under par.

Q. Right. You're a rookie here at Augusta at the Masters. What do you take from this week? There's got to be a lot of confidence.

MIN WOO LEE: Yeah, coming into this week I wasn't, obviously, playing that well, so this place gets you on another level just because you're in front of millions of people and you need to play good. There's some demanding shots out here, and it makes you kind of reverse psychology and tell yourself you just have to commit to it. If you have a bad swing, you have a bad swing, but you just have to commit to every shot out here.

I guess I didn't feel that good with the putter, and the last couple of weeks I think I strokes gained on the putter a lot. So really positive vibes there. I'll take a few weeks off now and work on a couple of things, but maybe a little celebratory drinks with the team tonight.

Q. Well done. Great week.

MIN WOO LEE: Thanks.
