MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 10, 2022

Adam Scott

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Scotty, quite a different day today. What are conditions like out there?

ADAM SCOTT: It's perfect. Perfect Augusta National day. It feels like the Masters Sunday. The pins, there are a couple of interesting ones, but there are some traditional ones as well.

I think for the guys playing well, there are a lot of opportunities.

Q. Thank you won in 2013, the only Australian to put on the green jacket. Cam Smith's chances, and what do you think his strengths are for today?

ADAM SCOTT: Well, the chances are really good because there's only one bloke in front of him. There can be big swings out here even on nice days like today, so I think his strength is he is putting amazing, and he is generally making a lot of birdies, and I wouldn't change anything he is doing. And I would go out there and try to make as many birdies as he can and accept a couple of errors, and hopefully he finishes the day on top.

Q. So you've obviously been down the stretch and won. What would be your advice if you gave him some advice in the first tee?

ADAM SCOTT: Well, I think he should just play like he has been playing. There's no different. He is doing everything really good. So is Scottie Scheffler. No surprise the two best players this year are leading the biggest event of the year. He has just got to keep doing exactly what he has been doing because it's working a treat.

Q. Knowing what this tournament means to Australians, what do you think his emotions are like right now having gone through this?

ADAM SCOTT: I think -- well, I don't know. One of Cam's -- he is not fazed by much, and I don't know how much -- only unless you've heard -- how much importance he places on this event or that event or anything, but he is kind of not fussed by much at all.

And I think if that is his true feelings, that's a positive for today because if there's any day that you see guys out here who are overcome with emotion and stuff, this is Sunday at the Masters. Never seen so many players crying after a round of golf when it doesn't work out for them.
