MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 9, 2022

Sergio Garcia

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. How was it out there today? How did it feel?

SERGIO GARCIA: Yeah, obviously it was tough. Not only because it was windy again like the first two days, but the course was firmer, the greens were firmer, it was colder. So it wasn't easy to move as well as the first couple of days.

I started really well. Obviously an unbelievable birdie on the 1st and a great save on the 2nd. Then I had a good -- a couple of good chances for birdie that I didn't make. I made a couple nice saves, got a couple nice breaks. Then unfortunately, a couple not so good breaks.

On 10 I got a huge gust off the tee. I thought I hit a perfect tee shot and caught a huge gust and moved 20 yards left and went in the trees unplayable. Unfortunately, I couldn't make par.

I hit a pretty good shot on 12, just half a yard too far left, and made bogey.

Then nice birdie on 13.

15, I thought I hit a good shot and another huge gust of wind and it killed my ball. But I made a good save.

Then I hit a really good shot on 16, you know, half a yard further right it's a nice birdie putt; unfortunately it goes down the hill and it's a little bit tricky, three-putted.

And then on 18 I didn't hit that bad a tee shot and I had no swing, so hit a good putt for par, and unfortunately didn't want to go in.

Q. There's only eight guys under par. You prediction for tomorrow, what do you think about tomorrow?

SERGIO GARCIA: Tomorrow is supposed to be a little bit warmer and not as windy. Obviously, the way Scottie's playing there's not much to do. Pretty much for anyone. He's got a six-shot lead from second.

So if he plays anywhere close to the way he's been playing all year, he should win it. It's as simple as that.

You know, it's never easy because he's going for his first major, it's Augusta, and everything that that brings with, but he's playing very well.
