AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

April 2, 2022

Ingrid Lindblad

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. It was quite a round today. Could you walk us through your Eagles on 8 and was it 15?

INGRID LINDBLAD: 8 and 15. On 8 I did not hit my driver very well, but I had -- I was able to grip down a 5 wood from the rough on the right side. I hit it, and I thought it would be 10, 15 yards right of the green, but then I come up up on that hill, and there's a cameraman. Like a camera guy. He is, like, yeah, it came off the slope down towards the pin. Then I see it was two feet from the pin.

Then on 15 I hit a driver that I think the -- what do they call? The patrons. I think they thought it was too far right, but I come down, and it's middle of the fairway.

Had a 7 iron in. Hit it really good. Had a three- or four-footer for eagle, and it just felt really easy.

Q. Did you think the course would be deal a score like yours today?

INGRID LINDBLAD: If you hit the greens where you need to hit the greens, you for sure can have a good score, yeah. I almost held out on 7. It was, like, four inches from the hole, and then same thing happened on 14. I hit the ball, and it just comes down to the pin, so you've just got to make your money where you can and be defensive where you have to be defensive.

Q. Regardless of how it turns out for you today, what will you take away from this week most of all?

INGRID LINDBLAD: Today played seven shots better here than last year, which is kind of crazy. It's just an amazing week, and I didn't have my best on that second round, but coming out here, anything can happen. And with these last few players, everything can happen. I'm super excited to be here and happy about having a really good last round.

Q. You've played here more than once now. Does it give you a chance to have some perspective on what this event has meant to women's golf?

INGRID LINDBLAD: I mean, just coming out here first for the chairman's dinner -- last year was my first year here, and I was just amazed by what this place looks like because you only see it on TV, and then you don't really understand what the course looks like and everything around it. And this year there are so many people here, too. I just feel like it's a great experience to play because we don't play with a lot of people. In college we play with a few parents and coaches and some friends maybe, but here it's, like, thousands of people, and it's just a great experience for the future.

Q. Is there a buzz about being able to play here as you're going through a college season?

INGRID LINDBLAD: Yeah, I actually had a professor who was, like, oh, my God, you're going to Augusta. Yeah, I'm going to Augusta. People who aren't even golfers, they know this place, so it's kind of cool that you can say that you have played here.

Q. Did that professor ever talk to you about matches or anything you've played before?

INGRID LINDBLAD: Yeah. It's a sports event class, so we talk a lot about sports events and sports overall, so whenever we played good with LSU, he knows about it.

Q. Ingrid, do you feel like you and the other competitors here are part of a new generation that is inspiring young women and ushering in a period of much more prominence?

INGRID LINDBLAD: I do think so. I know there were a lot of people watching this, and I believe most of them to be, like, I want to be here in five or ten years, so it's super fun.

I gave my ball to a little girl sitting on the 18th green, so she looked at me, and I was, like, you can have it. She didn't really understand at first, but you know that's just super fun.
