AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

April 2, 2022

Avani Prashanth

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. I know you must be so disappointed. Especially with a bogey on the last hole and the way you wanted this week to go, but just give us your thoughts on the entire week. How good was it for you to be invited to the Augusta National Women's Amateur and to make the cut and play competitively?

AVANI PRASHANTH: I'm so grateful I'm here. I got to play with the top 39 our top 40 amateurs in the world, so definitely that was a big plus point of coming here, and then I got to play this wonderful golf course. That as well.

Otherwise, I think I didn't have a very good week scoring-wise, but otherwise, I think I really enjoyed this week, and I can't wait to be back here next year.

Q. I thought you hit the ball really well today. Just the putter wasn't getting warmer?

AVANI PRASHANTH: The putter was actually really good. I just left a couple of shots for stupid reasons, but otherwise, my putter was working really well. It's what saved me most places. Yeah, it was just a little bit of bad course planning, and yeah.

Q. How special was the roar you heard on the 12th hole and the birdie you made there?

AVANI PRASHANTH: That was very special. The only thing I was thinking is don't mess it up, don't mess it up because I didn't want to mess that particular hole up because I would say was the hole that I was looking forward to, so when I heard that roar, when I made the birdie, it got me really excited, yeah.

Q. What did you hit over there, and what was the putt like?

AVANI PRASHANTH: It was 146. I hit a 9 iron, and I had about 7 feet to go.

Q. Overall what does this week do for you? What is the kind of take-away that you have from a week like this and, obviously, Sage Valley before that?

AVANI PRASHANTH: I think it gives me a lot of confidence. While I did not score very well, I can still see that my game is there. It's not, like, way off. I've also seen how much my driving distance is and everything that I am good at or bad at, I've seen from this week, and it's given me a lot of confidence and also feedback. So definitely these two weeks have been very helpful. A lot to learn from them.

Q. Today the 12th would be your special moment for the day today?

AVANI PRASHANTH: Yes, because that was my only birdie as well, yes.

Q. How were you in the morning when you came to play the tournament, play the round? How excited were you? What kind of a state were you in?

AVANI PRASHANTH: I was very excited. As soon as I got here, I was very excited, and I wanted to start playing as soon as I got here, and, yeah, it was a great feeling.

Q. A lot of support from family and friends.

AVANI PRASHANTH: Uh-huh, yeah. A lot, yeah.

Q. Perfect. So what's next for you?

AVANI PRASHANTH: I have a couple of trials to go back in India and play, and I play those, and then I have the Asian Game trials as well at the end of April. I play both of those, and then after that I think it's a bit of an offseason for a bit, and then I start again in May.

Q. Okay. Perfect. Thanks a lot.

AVANI PRASHANTH: Thank you.
