AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

April 1, 2022

Avery Zweig

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. How was your practice round?

AVERY ZWEIG: My practice round was great. Definitely had some adrenaline coming into it, which was helpful because it's been a pretty long couple days. I mean, there's no better place to be here to just not be calibrated to the speed of the greens.

I was working on stuff and trying to hit the most fun shots I could, and I attempted Tiger's chip on hole 16. So we packed it all in today. It was just super fun. I'm ready for a good day of competition tomorrow.

Q. Is that how your practice rounds go? You like to kind of keep them light?

AVERY ZWEIG: Yes. I like to keep everything light on the course. For me personally, that's just how I operate and how I get into that performance state best. Especially today, it's pretty easy looking out onto this beautiful golf course.

Q. What was the most challenging hole?

AVERY ZWEIG: The most challenging hole was most likely 18. It could have been compiled by the fact that was my 20th hole on the day, but it's straight uphill, and that's a really tough drive. It's the last one, so I'm looking forward to playing it tomorrow and finishing off strong.

Q. It's been a bit of a long week. How do you stay present and maintain balance throughout these rounds?

AVERY ZWEIG: That's a great question. A lot of work goes into me being able to stay present and stay focused on the here and the now. There's been a lot of excitement and nerves today and yesterday combined. I've had to put a lot of intentional work into monitoring my thought process and doing what I need to do, resting, thinking about the right things, talking about the right things.

So right now I'm just focused on going home, getting some rest, and then tomorrow I'll be fully focused on getting a good warmup and shot by shot.

Q. Who's on the bag for you tomorrow?

AVERY ZWEIG: My caddie Ben. He's over there. He's probably really happy he's getting a shout out right now. He's been on the bag for me this whole week, and I certainly wouldn't be able to play the way I have without his help. Very excited to work with him for another day.
