AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

April 1, 2022

Amalie Leth-Nissen

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Initial thoughts on the course?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Definitely difficult. It was kind of surreal to be here, to see it on TV and now playing it yourself.

Yeah, it's not going to be easy, but you can definitely score on this course, yeah.

Q. You're from Denmark, right?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Yes.

Q. How big is the Masters over there?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Not as big as here, but definitely most of the golfers in Denmark watch Masters as well. So it's a pretty big deal too in Denmark.

Q. What would you consider to be your biggest career win to date?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: For now?

Q. Yeah.

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Maybe I won the Junior Invitational a few weeks ago as an individual win, and then I won the European Team Girls Championship in 2019, as a team, yeah. That was also very special.

Q. Sage Valley went into a playoff, right?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Yes.

Q. How did that build your confidence coming into this week?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: I think I was very much in a flow where I was just focused 110 percent on my own game. I think that really helped me to play my best. So I'm just going to try and do the same.

Q. Which hole did you find the most challenging?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Today? I think the 10th is quite difficult, or it's just long. But I think it's just about getting the right positions everywhere. It's easier, yeah. But if you get off, it's not that easy, no.

Q. You're one of the youngest people in the field. Do you feel like there's some sort of advantage coming in? Meaning you can just sneak everything in?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Yeah, maybe, especially being a first timer. Yeah, usually I play with older people. I don't think it's going to be an advantage for me, but I'm just trying to play my own game, yeah.

Q. How many pro tournaments have you played in?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: I played a few, one in France last year and then --

Q. The LET Access?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Yeah, the LET Access.

Q. I would imagine entering the Junior Invitational you were probably one of the favorites at least rankings-wise. Do you feel like almost the dark horse going into tomorrow?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Yeah, definitely. Going into this tournament I was just, like one of my goals was to play a tournament round at Augusta, which means making the cut, and now being in consideration for winning, if you can say that way, that's very special. I just think that there's no pressure, and I just have to play my own game.

Q. Your goal has obviously changed now?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Yeah, it has.

Q. What do you do well? What's the best part of your game?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Today or just --

Q. Just in general, or today and then in general.

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Definitely my putting. It helped me clean up from some of the bad shots and getting my birdies when I could. So definitely my putting.

Q. What was the longest putt you made this week?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Not that long actually. Today at the practice rounds, maybe it's like, oh, 10 meters. That's, what, 30 feet.

Q. What hole?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Number 9.

Q. How many birdies did you have out here?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: I didn't finish my balls everywhere. So I don't have a specific number, no.

Q. Who's on the bag for you tomorrow?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: My dad, yeah.

Q. Was it hard to make that decision?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: No. He caddies for me, and then I also wanted the experience with him so we could have that together.

Q. (No microphone)?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: I don't know yet. I still have two years left of high school.

Q. What's your dad's name?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Christian.
