AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

April 1, 2022

Amalie Leth-Nissen

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Can you tell us a little bit about your morning. How many holes did you have?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: I had nine holes. I played nine holes, yeah.

Q. I guess you can kind of get in a rhythm then?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: I had nine yesterday, nine today, so yeah, just pretend I'm playing 18, just a bit shorter. I think I got into a rhythm, yeah, definitely.

Q. All pars?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Yeah, all pars, nine pars.

Q. What do you think's working particularly well for you so far through 36 holes?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Definitely my putting. My approach game wasn't that good today, so definitely some longer putts and some good short putts really helped me and made sure I got my par, yeah.

Q. It was a little windy here this morning. How did you handle that?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: I would say at about the 5th hole it really started getting more difficult with the wind, but then again, just keep playing my game and just think more about it, yeah.

Q. You have a quick turnaround now. You're going straight to Augusta. How do you feel about that?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: It's kind of overwhelming, both to make the cut and actually like be in the top, one shot from the first place. So it's kind of surreal to be here and going to play Augusta for a tournament round. So I'm just looking forward to playing it now and definitely also tomorrow.

Q. It sounds like you're almost a little surprised that you have a chance to win the tournament. Is that true?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: Yeah, I think my expectations were set like not that high, just to enjoy the whole experience and then just play my own game and see how long that goes. Then hopefully to make the cut. But of course now when I'm only one shot behind, then of course I'm going to do everything to try to win.

Again, I've never played Augusta before, and I'm sure it's difficult. So I'm just going to play my own game.

Q. How do you approach the practice round? It's the first time seeing Augusta. It's obviously going to be super cool. You're also trying to win a golf tournament and learn the golf course as much as you can. How do you think you'll balance those?

AMALIE LETH-NISSEN: I think I need to keep focused, stay focused into doing my things, all the things I need to do for making myself and my game as ready as possible. But of course I'm going to enjoy the course, and it's going to be really cool, yeah.
