AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

March 30, 2022

Ingrid Lindblad

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Pretty solid day. This is kind of what was expected. How hard is it to come out with all the internal pressure, all the external pressure and people knowing you're going to play well to actually making it happen?

INGRID LINDBLAD: I was just trying to focus on myself, not trying to let a lot of things distract me. I've been hitting it good lately, so I was just trying to hit the fairways and hit the greens. I started off by missing two greens. I was like maybe this is how it's going to be today. Just putted them off the fringe and made up and downs.

It was kind of like that all day. Like I missed a few greens but still made up and down. It was pretty solid.

Q. That new wedge setup coming in handy?

INGRID LINDBLAD: A little bit. I think I only hit like one tip shot today.

Q. Really? It was the putting?

INGRID LINDBLAD: Yeah, I putted a lot. The greens are so firm, so you don't really want to land it on the green. I hit one chip with that club, and I made up and down.

Q. Do you have any idea maybe where this putting performance ranks for you like in recent rounds? Did you putt as well today?

INGRID LINDBLAD: The first two birdies I made were like -- the first one was like 15 feet, and the second one was like 23 feet. So those are just good reads and good speed.

But I had a lot of three-footers I made for par. It was just like I had good speed on the greens, yeah.

Q. Those three-footers, Coach Garrett was saying, used to give you trouble because your stroke is a little in to out.

INGRID LINDBLAD: Yeah, I also changed putter from when I played last year. Last year I had a blade putter, and now I have a mallet.

Q. How much more confident do you feel this year on the greens than last year?

INGRID LINDBLAD: This putter I have now, even if I hit it a little bad, it won't really affect it. It's a little bit more forgiving than my last putter, and it's a lot heavier. So it's like the tempo gets a lot better.

Q. If you're getting putts to drop like that from 15 feet, how dangerous are you at this tournament?

INGRID LINDBLAD: I mean, if I get putts to drop, I mean, I can shoot low. I mean, I had -- yeah. I don't know. I mean, I missed a few, like I missed a seven-footer for par on 1, and I missed a ten-footer for par on 4. So it was like I didn't putt bad. Those were just like a little off in speed, but that was about it.

Q. How in touch with the game do you feel?

INGRID LINDBLAD: I think I'm a little bit more confident this year than last year. I've seen the course before. I hit the ball further, so I actually hit a little shorter clubs in this year than I had last year. So I mean, it's a big difference if you have like a pitching wedge instead of an 8-iron into the greens. It helps like a ton with spin and everything.

Overall, just been pretty confident today. Hit like one bad tee shot, still made par, so that was fine.

Q. How many birdies did you hit today?

INGRID LINDBLAD: I don't know. I haven't done my stats yet.

Q. (No microphone)?

INGRID LINDBLAD: I've been doing a lot of -- like I've been grinding on my putting, like especially those up to like six to eight feet. And on these greens, like I feel, if you hit a good putt and you start it on the line you want to start it on, then you're going to make it because the greens are so good that they're not going to like jump out of the line or anything.

So I've just been grinding on my putting, grinding a little bit on my bunker shots actually.

Q. How was the Chairman's Dinner?

INGRID LINDBLAD: It was nice. I had a really good time. I sat with the sponsor from Rolex and the sponsor from Bank of America. So I had a really good night.

Q. What has the experience been like being here with your teammate?

INGRID LINDBLAD: We actually, her parents drove us from Clemson, so we had like three hours of bonding in the car. I actually saw her today. I crossed a bridge from hole No. 2 to hole No. 3, and she crossed it on hole No. 8. So I was like -- she's like, oh, we're matching today. She's wearing pink as well. So I mean, it's really fun. And I saw her name on the leaderboard, so she's playing good too.

Q. What does it mean to you to be representing LSU on this stage?

INGRID LINDBLAD: It's big. I know what kind of attention it was last year, and already like coming into this week, like I've had a lot of attention. It's just so fun like representing LSU and the Swedish golf team too.
