JTBC CLASSIC PRESENTED BY BARBASOL

March 26, 2022

Janie Jackson

Carlsbad, California, USA

Aviara Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Janie, three days down, ending the third round at 9-under overall. How are you feeling heading into the final day?

JANIE JACKSON: I feel good. I feel like my game is in a good place. Striking the ball much better yesterday and today than did I the first day, which is good. I just sort of the freed myself up, didn't think about much.

I love the course. I feel like if you plot your way around you can score well out here. So I feel good with where I am, and just going to keep staying patient tomorrow.

Q. You said you freed yourself up. What goes into that? Is it something that clicks on the course or you went to the range and tried to dial it in?

JANIE JACKSON: Yeah, no, I been working on some swing things the last few weeks, and I found myself during the first round sort of the thinking about those a few times on the course.

Yeah, that's not a good recipe for success. So I went to the range for a little bit. You know, it's funny, actually. After the first day I went to the range and I hit four golf balls after my round, and all four were perfect.

I said, I didn't even think about anything over those four, so that's just what I'm going to go out and do. So I tried to completely free my mind on the golf course, and it worked much better for me the last two days.

Q. Seems like a change of mentality is kind of the way to go around Aviara.

JANIE JACKSON: Yes, absolutely. You know, here or anywhere else, the easier you can make it on yourself the better.

So just try not to overthink or think about techniques or anything like that on the course. Just keep it simple goes a long way.

Q. Have you ever played this courses before? Have you ever played this tournament?

JANIE JACKSON: No. So last year I came and tried to Monday. Got here at midnight on Sunday night; tee'd off at 7 something the next morning, blind, having never seen it.

So that's the only other time I've every played it other than this week.

Q. Where were you coming from that you got in so late?

JANIE JACKSON: The Symetra Tour event in Arizona.

Q. Wow.

JANIE JACKSON: Yeah.

Q. So this was your first week to really take apart Aviara?

JANIE JACKSON: Yes. Yeah. I mean, I was here last year like I said for the Monday, so zero prep as far as having seen the course or knowing what to expect.

Ryann O'Toole last year gave me an old yardage book or some old notes or something to sort of guide me around. But, yeah, no, this was my first week to really dive into it.

Q. The leaderboard is really bunched up right now. It's anyone's game tomorrow. What do you think it will take to really break through?

JANIE JACKSON: I mean, for me, all I'm going to do is just go out and keep it simple for myself and just play the best golf that I can, put myself in positions where I can have chances at making birdies, and try to stay away from places that aren't going to help me make birdies.

I can't control what anyone else does. I can only control myself. That's my plan.
